Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

A few Leyland group pics today.

The last pic of Hampshire C.C Mandator brings back memories for me,used to see them most days in the early 70s travelling the A36 on their way to the quarries on the Mendips

Hope these are of interest.

Cheers Marc.

Excelent pics as always Marc, fantastic stuff!

Wonderful pics,as always, thanks for taking the time to post them.

I wonder what Jonny Foreigner used to think when he saw those old British non-sleeper motors on the highways of Europe!
No wonder we won the war!

Going through the Leyland box earlier l put aside all the cuttlngs to do with the gas turbine Leyland…a rare piece of kit and thank god that Tony Knowles has saved an example. Here are the pics.

Same truck, same place but now it has different mirrors…weird!

Hope this is of interest.

Cheers Marc.

Excelent pics again mate. Leyland should of carried the re-styled front end and interior mods over to the rest of the range, it looked good didnt it??

I hope it’s OK to add this Bubbleman on your “Leyland Group” thread but I think it got “lost” in the foto forum.
Cant remember where but it was 1997.

No probs Gazzer, anyone can put what pics they’ve got to help the thread along. The original intentions was to encourage anyone who had newspaper/magazine clippings which they had kept for whatever reason to put them on the thread…lts basically ended up with only me shoving my junk on here…lts great though cos l never expected it to go this far and from all the nice comments that have been said it seems to be bringing quite a bit of enjoyment to a lot of people. Thanks to everyone who have contributed, loads of stuff to come.

Great, its very interesting, Cheers.

truly awesome stuff

you forget, don’t you, jsut how many Leyland G cab vehicles you used to see around and now they’ve virtually all disappeared!■■

and the Big Js - where did they all go? rust? Malta?

and I can’t be the only one who thinks that the AEC Mark V cab (park royal?) was much better looking than the Ergo cab

Correct fryske and A.E.Evans fleet 166 YXP 772 was based at the Sheffield depot and was one of the first MK 5s I drove for them in 1970  .
Never thought I’d see a pic of her, thanks for putting them up Mark.

They certainly are OK, thank you! Speaking of Redburn, I thought that Redburn Transfer was run by the son of the owner of L T Redburn Limited - but I’m sure there are others out there who know rather more about it than I do!

240 youre probably right,l just was sure that Dobbs had some input along the way, like l said l’m probably wrong :unamused:
Cheers Marc.

ps Glad you liked the Atkis

The pic of the snaylams sed atki brings back memories of the 70s.I used to drive for them then, just for anyone who,s interested the pic was taken as the truck pulled out of the loading bay at edbro tipping gears which was one of snaylams main customers at the time.

Nice pics again mate, dont know if ya intrested, but the SedAtki 400 in the livery Cape Boards (asbestos) now lies in the massive Rush Green Motors nr Hitchin, Herts. Its still in the same livery, they were the only owners. Ive got a pic of it, will put it on when my computer is sorted out. Cheers, Chris.
