question is “where is gay lad” would love to find her??

I spoke to Bill friday about “gay lad”,he said to his dad at the time “im not driveing that with that name on it” the name was changed to “jack the lad”.The lorry was sold to a driver called walsh who was in erith kent,he did germany with the lorry in the same colours as when bill had it.What happened to it after this Bill does,nt know.I showed Bill this post with the pitures of him and his dad and he loved it and says thanks to bubbleman for putting this on here.

Hello all,
Firstly thanks to boyzee for taking the trouble to show Bill jnr the Humphries cuttings, they certainly knew how to tart a motor up

Todays bitz 'n bobs…1st pic, a pretty rare shot of dockers working, but in the days of common sense…not a hard hat ,yellow jackets or safety boots in sight.

The last pic of Loades Albion is great…look no twistlocks just a bit of rope…you cant buy stuff like this at Tescos!!!

Cheers for now,Marc

And I bet it never fell off.Mind you I would have taken it steady round the bends

Some good stuff there Marc,thanks.
Spire Transport Chesterfield,Key Warehousing Hull,Templemans(Stamford I think),Daniel Stewart Blairgowrie,Robertson Buckley all blasts from the past.
We used to carry new 40ft containers out of Cravens,Sheffield like the Loades for Loades Albion.Just roped on and away to Renfrew or wherever.Still on the trailer when you got there.

I too often carried containers like that in the early days, not new ones but
loaded ones in the normal course of business. :open_mouth:
Mind you I sometimes had at least one twistlock to connect to, say if it was a
30ft on a 40/20ft trailer, but I never roped them like that. Always backwards and
forwards from the twistlocks with short double hitched ropes.

BTW what a great sleeper cab that White’s Albion would have
made.

love the thomas allen picture marc cheers…pete

Hello everybody, how about some Scanias then.

Dont those early X reg 2 series Scanias look naked without their sunvisors.
