The last pic of Cliff Powells Maggie went on to belong to Trans - Uk haulage, although the cutting is not too clear the reg is LTG474P

Hope these are of interest
Cheers Marc.

That Fiat 130,EEX733T,was the first truck I ever drove after I passed my class one in November 1979,Bob Carter-the owner of Trans UK,put me through my test.I drove that for just over a year before being given,I think,WVG307S,a Fiat 619 that had been on M/E.
After that,and right up until Trans UK finished,I had,I think,LLV205R,a Maggie-Deutz 232.

Also during that time I drove several other’s,including that 310 Maggie in the bottom pic,LTG474P,which by that time was affectionately known as ‘The Fire Engine’,on account of it having been re-painted bright red and waiting to be shipped out to a middle east buyer, though it never went.

Here’s LTG in Trans UK colours…

Hope these are of interest ,

Marc,

Thanks for posting these great snippets.

A bit of a technical, geeky question this, but what resolution do you scan at?

I’ve tried scanning similar articles in the past but can never seem to get them very clear.

Cheers

Mark

Hello again,

First to answer Roadcommander2s question about posting these cuttings.I got to admit I have’nt a clue how it all works…I just send the pic to photobucket and it comes out reasonably good, having said that it has taken over an hour to prepare the next lot of pics…its a very slow job.Sorry RC2 thats been no help at all.

To Wirralpete…I cant recall a 400 Sed/atk in Castrol livery,I will go through the cuttings over the weekend…ok.

Todays offering…the 3 pointed star or Hitlers revenge!

Right thats all for today :frowning: ,but more on Sunday

Cheers Marc

Snap! same here.MVX 716J Ex Derek Cooper AV760 Mandator without the Fuller. Fold down plank in the cab and an injector pipe that was always ready to break at 3am. in freezing cold weather. Nightmare electrics and a low diff. too! No one would give me a job, so when I was 22 I bought this and went up the road with it - LOL!

bubbleman do you have any info with this pic from your collection
I know a bloke who ran the M/E for Knights of Old in the 70`s, i am sure his was a double drive unit though.
or anyone else who may have some info would be great.

Hello Nianiamh,
I’m sorry but this cutting of Knights of Old did make it into a scrapbook but to make it fit …I cut off the info
Having said that ,because nothing of any use was printed eg 16 speed box ,air con blah blah, runs to M/E etc there was no need to keep the writing bit…wished I kept it now :frowning: Sorry
