Hello everyone, the Herbert Brown/Somet Foden is appealing to some of you, here is a pic of her in her last days
I’ve shots of her in a black colour,Longdons I think ,then she went to live in Cornwall and ran by Eric J neale. This shot above was taken by me about 5 years ago in Trendales yard in Roche…the lads I were with thought I was stupid wasting film but I knew I’d a pic of it new and one of it at the end…a sad end to a fine lorry.
Cheers Marc.

Great memories, a real blast from the past.
I just bought the “Pollock” Book - Early Years by Frank Richardson anyone wants nostalgia a real good book.
On another note I have Friend who doesnt use the internet much, age thing. He has a collection of Commercial Motors from the 50’s thru to the last year except for a few editions.
Wants rid off them…Any offers, let me know I will pass it on. You would have to collect, Scottish Borders
Thanks
Brian
Also photos of todays Selkkirk Vintage Rally @ Selkirk
Righto lets have a few Foden clippings…the first shot shows a typical 60s driver!!!
The last one is a rare twin-load Foden.Hope they are of interest.
Cheers Marc.
Marc Love the Hales Container Fodens .My Dad worked for them but drove a Bedford Tk that dropped/swapped the 8’ft square boxes from a small yard in between houses in Plaistow East London.Often used to go round there after school as a nipper and watch all the trucks come back in the yard and never forgot a ride round the block sitting on the engine cover of the one Foden 8 wheeler they had at the time .My Dad had the tk from new ORO 959H and I went with him to collect it from Cheshunt -Brings back fantastic memories.I think Murphys in North London had those Fodens too then went onto Scammell Routeman 8 wheelers. Many thanks for your efforts.
Bob that was Humberstone round we used to live at the bottom by the roundabout and me dad used drop trailers there outside the school HSE lol
they built flats in that yard now
well done bubbleman!spent all evenin on this thread, wifes gone out with a monk on can have a beer in peace too now
must have felt like the mutts nuts in those macks n whites.remember philip preistner runnin all sorts of units, but dont recall seein the white.
many thanks,keep em comin!
Had a bit of time so I scanned some more cuttings…I seem to recall someone on Trucknet asking for pics of Malta cross transport…hope the 1st clipping is of interest to him, anyway some T.I.R lorries this time.
The last pic of Cliff Powells Maggie went on to belong to Trans - Uk haulage, although the cutting is not too clear the reg is LTG474P
Hope these are of interest
Cheers Marc.
More please Elmo. I’ll bet your missus just loves it when you start getting your collection out (no smuttiness please)
Love that Foden drawbar Marc, I had that model cab (without sleeper) on an artic powder tanker at K&M Hauliers of Hucknall. It had a 205 ■■■■■■■ in it and the famous Foden 12-speed gearbox and was one of the best wagons I ever had.
And at last, a Foden Twinload, I asked about these many months ago and few had ever heard of them. Finally someone came up with an Atkinson version which I had forgotten about, with ICI ‘saltpots’ on.
Awesome pics mate Axminsters f89 looks stunning! the thing you notice
with the old lorries they all had character unlike todays trucks which all look
the same, plus they had some fine sign writing.Keep up the good work.

Looks like my secrets out then Ken as I lived in Coronation Rd in front of the school and was a year below you at Brampton and have known you a lot longer than you think .Always remember the sound of yours or your dads sky blue 111 coming down the road .Imagine being allowed to have a yard full of skip lorries in Humberstone rd nowadays No chance!!!
