Last photo must have been taken at Ipswich British sugar .?

Any old unit coupled up to any trailer, hence oil all over most mudguards and chassis,

Quite a lot of the larger East Anglian farms ran their own lorry.
Hardly any beet factories left now.

Is it, or is it Bury St. Edmunds? Or are they the same place? I tipped at Bury many times, reversing up a long bank to tip into a hopper. Also memorable to me as they had a large petanque piste and a thriving employees’ club. Played in competition there too on several occasions.

The Hartleys lorry is just leaving Princes Dock in Liverpool, and is about to ascend
the floating roadway to get back on to dry land. It is probably loaded with oranges
from Spain and will be on its way to Hartleys jam factory at Aintree. Because there
were hightide and lowtide on the River Mersey twice per day, the floating roadway
was sometimes almost horizontal at hightide, and extremely steep at lowtide. NMP.

I wonder how many (if any) of those Leyland Hippos made it into civvy-street after the war, given that the picture is dated 1945. I’ll bet some 'em ended up on heavy haulage, breakdown wagons, agriculture and fairgrounds.

Looking at this picture and wondered if silver city airways were transporting the cars on the transporter in the shot, the nose of the plane is open, Buzzer

The Walkers Oils Octopus is a "rare " animal because it is a single drive axle motor and I don’t think many of them were built Cheers Bewick.

You could be right on " Boden or Tasker" “T” but it defo was not a York as they didn’t launch their solid frame LD Chassis until late '72 Keep trying we’ll get there eventually but I can’t make out the plate at the front of the chock rave ! Cheers Bewick.
