Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Well there ya go, everyday on Trucknet is a school day. It says Easter and Newcastle on the door so it’s probably a New South Wales rego.

And he mentions starting off with a tipper at 1min 20 sec’s.

But I thought NSW plates were yellow. :astonished:

Me too, except for the interstate, IS plates that were red on a white background.

News flash, what a wonderful thing the Internet is, after all the discussion on the picture I posted and a few thought it said Easter on the door and that is correct, in fact I have spoken on the internet with Ken Easter and he has confirmed it was his uncles truck. When I was delving into Ken Easter it appears there are 4 generations of the family involved and have asked for any other information on the personal involved so watch this space, he’s gone to bed now as it’s 2.30am and is coming back to me later, Buzzer

I was thinking of contacting him myself Buzzer but as it was a Friday afternoon I thought that I would leave it until next week as he might be a bit busy.
On that You Tube clip, Ken came across as a good bloke so I was going to e-mail him and ask him did he have any photos of that Atkinson which he mentioned.
My first thoughts were that the Scania might of been run in Newcastle, New South Wales and then he moved up to Queensland and registered it in Brisbane before he changed the address on the door. But as he mentioned on the video that his first truck was a Volvo tipper and now that you have said that the photo of the Scania was his uncles truck, then it’s good to know the story behind the photo.

If you want to play about creating your own Queensland number plate just add your letters to where it says combo.
You can have 8UZZER, SPARDO, BUBMAN, CWEBB or BEWICK but not STAR DOWN UNDER or MUSHROOMMAN.

 Well at least this joint allowed Star Down Under, even if it wouldn’t let me have Western Star Down Under.
We only got personalised plates in the late 80s and were originally restricted to 3+2 or 2+3 combinations of letters and numbers.
I have two sets of PPQ plates, that combined, cost less than your suggestion.

I have rented some vehicles in Oz with very unusual regos. One place, a Thrifty branch in Alive I think was, had 0, then another vehicle with 1, and so on up to 10!

Another had Disney cartoon names. Mickey, Minnie etc…

I thought how wonderfully free-thinking and rebellious the Aussies were allowed to be. Unthinkable in the UK!

EDIT: Did I type AliVe? I meant AliCe of course. Oops.

This one makes me smile whenever I see him.

Hey,

Is the owner of this 88 on the net here, or someone who knows him very well ■■?
I have a question about his Volvo ■■

The top photo, the Ebor bus, is a cracker - it’s the first Foden double decker built. Registered AMB 834 in December 1933, it had a 48-seat body by Burlingham and was initially a demonstrator for Fodens before being bought by the Ebor Bus Company of Mansfield, Notts in 1936.

Hi,
1st 2 photos of Carl tipping in Moscow were given to me to scan many years ago by Jason - Carls son which I posted - sadly Carl passed away a few years ago and Bunchie passed away just before Xmas
Ant

Hi Ant, I am sorry to hear that very bad news about Phil Bunch, the Mushroom Lady and I spent a really enjoyable weekend in Italy with three ex-Thor drivers, Bunchie, Gouldi and Alan Morrey, when Phil and Ray were on for Moorlock’s.

I hope that you didn’t mind me reshowing Jason’s photos of his dad in Moscow.
Somebody did mention on here that Carl had passed away many years ago and I can only remember Jason when Dow started the Fiat parts delivery service in Warrington. I think that Jason had a Volkswagen Golf at the time, not sure if it was red or maroon, it might of even of been his first car. Come to think of it, I think he paid a couple of visits to the yard in Lingard Lane when Carl had a Mercedes.

Is Jeff The Flying Foden still around ?

B.T.W. Ant,
I meant to put this photo on the Old Stoke Companies thread a long time ago but I can’t seem to enlarge it. Can anybody help

Hi Mushroomman,

No probs on the photos, Bunchie & Gouldie were crazy together - sadly Gouldie passed away a few years ago, so no doubt back together causing mayhem up there now !!
Jeff (Flying Foden) is still about - saw him at Bunchies funeral

Will post that photo of the Foden on Stoke group and see if anyone knows anything about it. ?
Cheers Ant

Hell of a Luton on that furniture van in Buzzers pics
