I loved those little Chieftains except that I would lie in bed at night and swear that I could still hear that four-pot knocking away beside me!

So you had the pleasure as well, Bewick! But you could have made sure the fog lamp was mounted on the correct side.
Unless, of course, one of those incomparable BTS drivers had knocked the matching one off!

From memory ROF that shot was taken one Friday morning after it’s first Test in 1970 and all I can think of the fitter hadn’t had time to fit the n/s fog lamp because it did have two lamps on when it went into service, but don’t mention drivers as it had a right pair of Numptys behind the wheel in quick succession, but it was a great little motor 100% reliable while we ran it we used to put about 9ton on it but when it got plated I think the payload dropped to around 7/8ton,it did a lot of cap jobs and small drops so weight wasn’t a problem in the main.Cheers Bewick.

You still got the touch Marc, with the pics. Thinking of Glyn John. I haven’t seen Paul John ( don’t know if he’s related ) posting on these threads lately.
Cheers Dave.
