Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

I had a Jake on my Cat, did work well

Still have Jake Brakes here, still as noisy, work well with a road ranger box, just leave them switched on and blip the gas for a smooth clutchless change.
There are signs at the top of hills here saying low range for trucks and buses. If you caught in the high range by the cops or RTA there’s a $90 fine and a point on your license waiting for you at the bottom, they don’t care if your empty or loaded. Common seance has nothing to do with it if your raising revenue.

Hello moomooland that ERF 8 tipper wernt they from the Prescott area as its Liverpool reg ? thank you Trevor .

I’ll poke my big nose in and confirm that Briggs’ were indeed from that area. As far as I know they are still in business- up until I retired three years ago I was seeing them regularly working out of Runcorn Docks.

Presumably ‘Transport Engineering Services’ Leyland Martian is the one that used to be (maybe still is) in the field just beside the M5 northbound, not far after J25 (by the coldstore where you would see Langdons vehicles).

Not been that way for a while to know if it’s still there?

Andrew.

My thoughts exactly.
Haven’t been down that way for a month or two,but I came past there last week but it was during the hours of darkness so I didn’t see it.

How many of you (older :unamused: :unamused: ) owners/drivers can remember the punched round orange stickers placed
on the cab windows ?
Errrr,…the prices have increased since this advert in November 1969.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

That one has a bush growing through the bonnet on google earth. Hope somebody saves it. Jim.

Nice set of photos Paul, you need to spend more time in your attic mate and see if you can find any of your Dodge when you had it new. Hope you’re well.
