hiya,
Ah’ yes memories of Preston Dock the pulp was a doddle the china clay
was a rough job 2 cwt bags from the fillers (dockers with a shovel) up
two planks (a nightmare when wet) then handballed into place looked
like a Homepride flour grader when you’d loaded, some canny some not
too good jobs of Northern Ireland Trailers but always handball, arsenic
was another product that was shipped into Preston, was always trying
to scrounge a bit for the mother in laws tea :smiling_imp: without success, also
the banana boats docked there I never did them though, as far as the
dockers grafting, those lads who did the china clay earned their crust.
thanks harry, long retired.

Well I may be wrong but I would say the middle on is a Chevy, & the other one is an Ex Army Canadian Dodge hence the style of headlamps. Regards Larry.

Hi All
Ill go with that Larry
No worries about the headlamps hes got a spot or fog to get home on it will light up the kerb or bank.
Also I think there are some S&P cranes still working in Southampton Docks I will check when I am there next

I wonder if the fog lamp is a Butler Make, They were very popular & of a lot cheaper than Lucas ones, Regards Larry.

The middle motor is a wartime Guy Vix-Ant, built for essential civvy use in the war years, a Vixen really with austerity sheet metalwork. The right hand is definitely a Kew built Dodge. The left hand is a Chevy.

Hi 3300 John,
It was a good show of vehicles that day , John,…I was there too !!!
Plenty of preserved British classics to see .
Was it you who kept standing in front of me just when I wanted to take a photograph :unamused:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hiya …maybe…NO i’am very polite when i see a camera i move well away, i know just what its like
as soon as some folk see a Kodac come out they just stand in front of you.sometime i use a zoom lens
then people don’t know your shooting. its not possible at shows everything is to close.
it was about 4 years ago i was at the Malta show.is that when you was there.
John

Hi “3300 John” ,
The Malta Truck & Bus Show was I May 2011. Sadly , the Shows no longer take place . :frowning:
I arrived at Luqa airport , and travelled to see the Show on the way to the Hotel !
“Pete 359” was also there on holiday , but he wasn`t present at the Show , he was sightseeing ( ) on neighbouring island of Gozo.

Weve recently been back to the sunny island , and I ve already put some photos on various TNUK threads .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

A couple of well loaded old girls.
