Hi Nathan

I’m not sure where either of the FM’s went once they went out of the area… The six was sold on to a local haulier but they didn’t keep it long - I think it was part exchanged for a new eight wheeler. My eight was sold to the same local guy who then got rid a few years ago. I have no idea where she is now…

What can I say about the closures…it obviously makes good business sense for them because the industry seems to be on its arse but its always going to be a bitter pill to swallow for any individual directly affected. I suspect quarrying will end up the same way as all the other industry that we used to have in this country - we can all see it happening now - all nicely wrapped up in government and H&S red tape, slowly and irretrievably strangled, then shipped abroad where they can actually get on with the job rather than pander to idiotic rules and regs put in place by a faceless department :unamused:

Hi Basil

Good days, mate, bloody good days  Dig some pics out, you must have some about somewhere…

The right hand DAF PEL 355M was with C B Morgan of Shaftesbury from around 74/75. I assume Hawker’s had it new.

Thieving scrotes,

You was lucky Brian it cost me £7.60 for half a lager and a large dry white wine
just off Oxford Street I couldn’t refuse cos’ I’d half drunk the lager while he was
pouring the wine, I did ask him was I buying shares in the brewery.
