Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Cracking pics Lurpack, regardless of the rain.Recognise most of the roads the A4111, A44 and A470 and some of the lorries.
Cheers Dave.
Yes thought you might turned left at Hereford though kington, Crossgates, and Llangruig, we came back down the A470. They have bypassed the bridge at Bulth Wells which we couldn’t get under when delivering polysterene, and also Talgarth which was fun if you hadn’t been there before
cheers Ade

Yes two good road schemes Ade.Talgarth and Bronllys was done about three years ago and the Builth to Newbridge on Wye scheme more recently. The bridge you refer to was at Cwmbach on the A470.I did notice you came back down the A470 and took a pic at the Halt cafe and filling station at Llanwrthwl, plus some on the new road.
Cheers Dave.

Called in to see Len Isherwood today at his workshop in Bacup Lancs and this is the project he is currently working on.A 1948 Thornycroft which was rescued from a quarry by its owner and Len has just rebuilt the cab for him. When i arrived he had just refitted the cab back onto the chassis. He told me that the owner had replaced the original engine with an Albion engine which came out of a bus/coach,still plenty of work to do to complete the job but i look forward to seeing the finished result.

Hello lads, good pics chaps…thanks for posting them, heres some more cuttings,Cheers Bubbs,

That atkinson in the background looks like it only needs a lick of paint and she’ll be ready !

Hi lads, heres todays stuff… ,Cheers Bubbs,

Hey Bubbs

That Marshall bulker is a handsome looking lorry, as is the Maggie of Hanson’s. Great colour scheme…

That pic of the FL6 jogged a memory or two. I had a little time working for Exel…working on the drays for Tradeteam. Great job spoilt by jobsworth managers. It got me out of a bit of a financial hole at the time but it was probably the worst company I have worked for… :unamused:

I left after being badgered by Jeff…

Early '99 and Jeff said he was replacing the franchise FL with a new FM… ‘What did I think?’ ‘Good idea’ says I, ‘so long as I don’t have to spend too much time on it’…

He listened! It was driven very seldomly by me, mostly back to the yard for inspections and a week or two of holiday cover. The first time was brand new from the yard to the quarry to swop with the FL7, ready for the driver on Monday morn…

I was waiting for this! I was driving the FL up until a new fella started - he got his new FM six wheeler and I went back on the FL for a month until this beauty arrived. 380 horses, VEB ( fabulous ), CD trim which came with a night heater…

Piston Broke, I reckon that T reg FM is still around; The reg number rings a bell.
What do you make of the Hanson closures? Strange as the day that gets announced, our driver reps get told at a meeting we’re expanding our fleet next year; Three old ones out and four new ones in. The extra is to be a 6w so a return to driving is on the cards for me.
