I can vaguely remember Joe Febry’s Maggie. Is that the one that John bought, Basil? Or was there two of them…?That was the one Paul, I can remember Graham Skuse had it new but I couldn’t remember what reg it was. I’m pretty sure it was down at the Bath & West before being delivered but I didn’t take a photo of it. Perhaps Matthew can ask his dad if there are any photos we could borrow. If there are, they’ll be interesting to see, they had a lot of lorries over the years!!

Hello Lads, thanks for the kind comments…lets try and get another year out of the thread .Went back 9 pages to see when the lorry in the 1st pic was talked about.Cheers Bubbs
Hi Marcus well done on 356 pages over the 4 years and I am sure it will reach its fifth birthday at least
cheers Johnnie
Thank you for continuing to post pictures, bubs! Kindly requesting any photos with shipping containers you may have
Well done Bubbs, best thread on here!!!
Happy Birthday Bubbs
As others have said - Well done to you, it is the best thread on here and a credit to you…here’s to the next four years
Thanks for the pic of Joe’s Maggie, tis nice to see the old girl again… I seem to remember a lot of noise, not a lot of go but a brilliant vehicle on site - they just never got stuck!
A few more from Wroughton…
A very well known lorry…
Quite a (in)famous fleet…
For years and years Mike Barnsley had Atki’s then Sed Atki’s, mostly with 240 Gardners. It was quite a revelation when these started appearing…
I can’t quite make out the reg of the Merc bit I guess it would be your mate again, Bubbs. John Clark didn’t have too many show trucks…
The Merc looks like G855 UTC.
Belated happy birthday Marcus. You are one of the nicest and generous guys I know. Many thanks for running the CVRTC meetings for all these years at Keynsham. Your well on your way to three quarters of a million viewings.
Regarding the pics -taken by Roger Kenney. Was the Bradley Dodge a conversion. Note it has no registration and carries a low freeboard body. Any comments!
The Bradley Dodge is something like —959K reg,you can just make out a plate on the o/s of the bumper.

I think I can just make out a number plate on the bumper… Looks like a ‘K’ reg… I guess it was a conversion. Did Primrose do steer conversions as well? Helluva long wheelbase…

I cannot make out any of the three characters and I have blown it up on screen massively. That’s the problem with scanning b/w, many times you get a better picture by scanning a picture from the neg rather than the neg itself.

I seem to recall a Dodge advert showing an 8 wheeler in Factory colours,I don’t know wether it would have been built on the line at Dunstable or some one like Primrose Engineering would have done the conversion.Primrose were the most popular “converters” in the 50’s/60’s era and as well as rear trailing axle jobs they converted many 4 wheelers to “Chines six” twin steers.Sydney Preston,Ernie Moore and W.Kieth of Flookburgh were big users of converted 4 wheelers in our area.IIRC I think that Primrose Engineering were instrumental in creating the Guy Warrior Light 8,I’m not sure wether Guy’s built them on their line or the chassis were sent to Blackburn for modification.TGB Motors were Guy Dealers and a sister Co. of Primrose Engineering.Cheers Bewick.
They also did eight wheeler conversions on Bedford TKs, albeit ones with the 0.600 Leyland engine in them, bet they were a lot of fun

There is a shot on the site of an extremely long wheelbased D1000 8 wheeler,I’m not just sure if that was a Primrose conversion ? Cheers Bewick.
They did an 8 Wheel Spanish Dodge. Did they do an 8 wheel Dodge with the LAD cab. It was also around the time of the Bedford VAL with Duple bodywork so a Chinese 6 with a Primrose Third Axle may have been a possibility.
Here is an odd 8 wheeler.
I put this image on the AEC thread but it belongs here as well.
Hello Guys
heres my contribution, some trucks from the Barnsley area, South Yorkshire.
The first is a lovely Scania 111 looking brand new that my uncle photographed near Carlton, Naylors Transport.
Another is a later Scania run by Alko. My dad took this shot, he used to work for Alko and this would come over from abroad regularly.
Rodger Carpenter Transport had the Dodges on the Celcon contract which had been converted in to 8 leggers Also used to tip at a firm in Northampton in the 80s called Terrys Transport they had a 8 wheel F88
Are you allowed to laugh at work nowadays.
Cheers Phil.
Congratulations marc, another milestone, the site is a credit to you, I enjoy the photos and the information, keep up the good work all the best.
