Cheers Bubbs.

This rig finished up with Simon International with Black John driving it.
After he rolled the drag at the bottom of the drop leading into Damascus, and after tipping in Baghdad he topped the trailer back home.
We then had a Greek driver named Hercules who took the truck on a “Milk run” around the m/e.
I believe the rig was disposed of at an auction eventually.

A Company called Oldbury made a load of these sliding bogie trailers,
they are a bit rare, they made a tandem axle PSK 40 footer with twist locks for containers that doubled up as a recovery trailer.
They made a load of these for the army too

Mousley Trucking of Coventry, later Rugby made some kneeling trailer called ‘Jumbo Legs’ it has be shown on here before Rover bought 3 of them iirc, I use one once to take some scrappers to Melton Mowbray.

Are they the same trailers or just the same idea Dieseldog66,iv never seen them before :exclamation:

There is a ERF EC15 on here somewhere operated by Millers Recovery, known as the Black Cat, it has the 6 pot 14.6 litre Caterpillar engine in it (I had one in a Road Commander - great engine)

I am pretty sure that is used with one of these sliding bogie recovery trailers - perhaps someone could upload a picture, as I can’t do that techy stuff

I think you’re right Toddy - I’m sure I’ve seen Millers with a slider too. Incidentally, the EC15 is now a 6x2 after they converted it from it’s original 4x2 configuration.

Hi Marky - just found a picture of it - will try & upload

Hi MOC - Just found out that the trailer in the photo used my Millers is made by Landoll - I think they are Italian

I think that Miles Nunn may have made a slider in the past, and I think they may have been taken over by Andover trailers

Can anyone find out where this Scammell was registered to? My Dad seems to think this used to run out of Garnet Street dept in Bradford. This was one of 2 Routemans they had. If anyone could do a reg.no search and find it’s origins I would appreciate it.

Hi LeeJ. AL is a Nottingham reg.but Steetley being as you know a Nott’s ie. Worksop
based company all new vehicles were normally registered there.Sheffield and Rotherham Reg’s featured also. UAL was march !973.
They would then be out sourced to the many sites that Steetley ran.
Sorry that does’nt really help you much.
Mike.

Cheers Mike. Shame I can’t get it pinned down to the Bradford dept. Would be good if there was some record kept on file to show where all the tippers were sent to after registration. hmm, I wonder if…
