Re: The “Spot Your Lorry” taken “west of Eynsham on the A40,” the white lines down the middle have long gone  Strangely, there’s “information for lorry drivers” on a sign in that layby that’s well out of date; Bridge Street Mill Ind Estate, Witney has been houses for about 5 years now, many of the businesses listed have ceased trading (including Earlys the blanket makers), with Baker Bros premises at Buttercross Works, Station Lane Witney about to be flattened for housing.
That’s my bit of useless yokel trivia for this evening chaps

Evening all, B… wet is it not!!! Dennis, after the last couple of days, well my atire, (if you can call it that), is a lot “filthier” than that you wore a few years ago, as a D1000 owner!!

Hi lads, heres my input for today,Cheers Bubbs,

The horses are splashing about like water polo stars, on paddocks that have always been dry!! Going through the “mayhem”, that our inclement weather has caused, what do I find, in a barn that has never ever flooded, but 40 well aged curtain sider rear doors, in that wonderful Swifts Transport livery.
What, I have to ask myself, and why, did I ever acquire such items, and for what reason■■? I must have had a plan, but it eludes me now!! Life becomes hard, …A large glass of Bollinger will put it right, (or me to sleep)! Hate the reports that those “reptillian bankers” used to drink Bollinger, (I bet that they never appreciated it), ah well, Cheerio for now.

Could this have been Harry

Ray

Hello again, heres more old stuff  :unamused: ,Cheers Bubbs,

That FS7 must be a one-off as a tractor unit, they were as rare as hen’s teeth in general.

not as rare as you might think , as pictured after your original post , havent got any pics now but Interoute transport ad 7 -8 4x2 units to haul single axle milk tank trailers , not a great favorite for the fitters as they were regulars in the workshop…the FS7 not the fitters :unamused:
as far as i’m awarethey were FL7 chassis ,engine,& running gear with the FL6 cab fitted i think the better option would have been to have the FL6 supercharged 250

That Geater from Boxted Scania - the first driver broke his leg when he stepped out of the cab ,it was the first Scania on the firm & the driver wasn’t used to the height of the cab.

Remember Geater’s well, used to do the same sort of work at one time - apples and other fruit to where ever and we used to do quite a lot of work out of essex to most northern markets, think with the advent of the E bloody C they went more for containers, dont know if they are still going ?

I new Albert Geater Quite well he used to do a lot of market work he also worked out of Mistley Quay

Never knew albert but used to see the drivers a lot at various markets when i worked for Earith Fruit Packers.with the green and cream motors

refactory brick works. to get to the refactory brick works i went past fosters and turned left and i think this place was on the left
in a couple of miles but i can’nt think where Fosters was now.I can remember going through Coundon before there was a bypass
but after that i’am lost.I’ve looked on google earth and it looks like a brick works on Long lane Newfield would that be Fosters in the
late 70s
John

still there now the brick works pick ford and holland had a place at crook to
There is Dyson Refactories works on Wear View in Hunwick. Go past Newfield Brick works, down the bank, over the river, up the other side to the T junction. turn left into Willington, thru Willington then turn left for Hunwick, comes up on the left down the side of the houses. I’m sure it used to be called Pickford Hollands years ago.
