hi bubbleman, that photo of martin black brought back a lot of memories, used to deliver wire rope from dawson ushers sunderland to martin black’s factory at coatbridge, this was back in the mid 60ty early 70ty,suppose that they are close down like many of the other rope making company’s that operated at that time,or got swallowed up by british rope’s and closed, :unamused: :unamused: bumper

Its just come back to me, Im sure our pal the late Mac [RIP] worked for them at Broad Chare when he first went onto wagons,It may have been a 4 wheel Dodge the LAD CAB, type, Regards Larry.

Nice to see J and J’s again Bubbs

That reminds me of my very first trip to London with an artic - I had to go to somewhere near Stratford. I can remember it was just through the Blackwall tunnel… How I found it I will never know but I did but i was completely bolloxed as how to get out again… I just did not have a clue where to go apart from back through the pipes… As luck would have it I spotted one of J and J’s and took an instant decision to follow him, hoping like hell that he was heading back towards his base at Cirencester… I must have jumped every traffic light on red because there was no way I was going to lose sight of his trailer…

■■■■ good job he was going my way - I could still have been there now!! What a sigh of relief when I was coming back along the embankment…

Great memories again. Thank you

Do ya know what it is yet?

Is that a Leyland engine in the “under the bonnet” shot Marcus ? Great shots mate,I recall when I was at Brady’s in the 60’s they ran a couple of Scammells,an 8 wheeler flat and a tractor unit and they both had the Gardner 150 engine.I think there is a nice “atmospheric” shot of the 8 wheeler (lettered Furness Transport) leaving the steel works in Barrow, fully freighted.Cheers Dennis.

This is the one you mean Dennis isn’t it. Someone is bound to say they own this photo now iv’e put it on here (never mind eh)
