Hi Paul Did Scotts ever run any commer artics in the late fiftys Regards Foden 46

No they never had any Commer’s but they certainly ran a mixed bag in the early days consisting of AECs, Albion’s, Bedford’s, Leyland’s and what came to be the main stay of the fleet in later years plenty of ERFs.

Not sure about a book the website takes up enough time as it is :astonished:

Had 137 emails over the weekend mainly thanks to the article in the paper.

ABOVE Barry Scott (right) and Jack Kershaw take time out for a photograph after the Oldham Evening Chronicle printed a full page feature all about the web site. With over 12,000 hits in the first three weeks of the web site going live Barry said " I cannot believe the interest that the web site has generated". With photographs being sent in from all parts of the country it just shows what a large popular company was in it’s heyday.

Unfortunately all the hard work went down the pan when the websites host server Fotopic ceased trading

Hope someone can help

Has anyone any idea of what make of car the founder of the company Sammy Scott is standing in front of??

The photograph was taken on Burnley Lane in Chadderton Oldham date n/a

Thank you in anticipation

Hi Paul,
Think that car on Burnley Lane might be a Ford V8 Pilot? One of my dads mates used to have a repair garage down in Hathershaw called Terminus Motor’s and I’m sure he had one of those parked up in a big shed at the side. Spent many a hour pretending to drive it when I was about 8yr old

Yeah very like a V8 pilot Jerry got there before me, like him I think it’s a Buick.

Not sure myself now will have to trawl the classic car web sites

Well it is a real puzzle I’ve had a look through the Ford V8 Pilot and the Buick sites and can’t find a model that really looks the same as the picture??
Good luck with your trawling Paul

Hmmmm not so sure about the Buick now, looking at it a bit harder the thing on the bonnet (there is a name for them but I can’t think of it  ) sure you know what I mean Jags, rollers cars like that had them years ago, well looking at that a chevy comes to mind.

If thats a chrome bird, stuck out at the end of the " Hood ", then its probably an Oldsmobile, unusual being right hand drive though ?

Have contacted a few classic car sites but have had no response as of yet.

Like you say jerry very unusual being a right hand drive

Well see as i have had not much success with the car id can any one help identify which model of Albion this is.

It was taken on Burnley Lane in Chadderton. Date 1940.

Thanks Paul.

The car is probably the one " Johnny Cash " built one piece at a time .
