Why is it so many so-called professionals rate these heaps■■?
because they never driven a Volvo?
suppose it’s just personal pref like cars with the Ford and Vaxhall wars
I drive a scania at the moment, I like it but they are overpriced and not a lot of useful stuff on them. Am waiting for a change to a volvo fh when work picks up again

Make sure you don’t stick it out over my wood chopping block lol
I too have often wondered why Scanias are said to be the best truck there is. I’ll admit I haven’t driven them that often. I had a few months driving one for a mob when I was an agency driver. It was a 124 470. It was a great pulling truck but thats about all I liked about it. I grew up wanting to drive a Scania cos everyone raved so much about them, but I have to say I was very disappointed when I eventually got a shot in one. Nothing special whatsoever.
That said, I’d still love a go in an old 143.

I do any of agree with you there, i was made up when was shown what i was going to be driving when i start my new job, they are a very good around lorry but i prefer the MAN i had, it didnt drive nearly as well as the R series but it was so much better to live in, the scania feels really cramped sometimes.
Never driven a Volvo, but would really like to have a go in one.
personally i really rate the scania’s, and for me there the best drive (up to now). I also think there a lot quieter in the cab than other wagons as well. The only downside for me is i dont think the seats are the comfiest, maybe there different in the higher models, but the P series they do get uncomfortable after a few hours.
I think its all down to personal preferance, but to me they feel really well built, refined, queiter cab than other trucks and a decent sound system (which to me is important!) and they look nice as well!
Other trucks just dont seem to meet the same standard? Baring in mine iv never even sat in a Volvo let a lone drove one.
I was very dissapointed with the Merc Axor, I thought Merc was meant to built decent stuff! But to me it just seemed like a pile of junk!
They’re ok, but i think the cabs a bit dated now.
At least others have freshened up their appearance.
Ken.
I’ve come to the conclusion it’s the same as the battle between the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra, Audi A3, Kia Cee’d and so on. There’s good and bad points to every make, and it’s deciding which ones best for you.
Also, with Scania they can stamp “R35,000 V8 Mega topline” and so on…
companys keep buying them wether the drivers like them or not as the residual values are so good, not saying that makes the trucks good, just a reason why a lot of firms stick with them
My regular drive is a 124L 420 4x2. Topline cab on an '03 plate. Apart from a pheseant dent in the headboard, its a very tidy old girl and flies along quietly, comfortably, reliably… It’s much more of a truck compared to any equivalent of the same age at the very least. I’ve driven Volvo FM and FH, Dad CF and XF, MAN wide and narrow cab, Renault Premium and although there is not much between a Scania and a Volvo, both are well above the rest.
Scanias are certainly not crap, you cant form an opinion on a statement like that. Some hate them, some favour them less compared to other trucks and some (most) love’em. The residual value is good, support is good, maintenance is good, life length is good and they perform very well in their roles.
I drive them the majority of the time, other times its Volvos and rarely Mercs. But I don’t understand this thread because they all do the same thing, I get in, do my checks drive from A to B and then back to A with some unloading in between.
So long as it does that with as little fuss as possible I can’t say I really care what badge is on the front
