Greg50 is that a V8 badge? i have driven one of those once
apparently it kept breaking down. it got me down to carnforth and back though. maybe it was pollocks own drivers that were breaking the hire truck

we used to put 23/24 tonne in the trailers if required.
you would never have to change gear once you got wound up on the motorway.
i had the misfortune to drive a 124 a few times.
with a tipping trailerā¦29 tonne in the boxā¦grossing at 44 t.
thats why i hate them.
i was doing hull/liverpool and you know what motorway i had to useā¦never again in a 124 unless its empty.
im guessing yours was better maintained then. that one was a hired truck and it was a bit rough. leather seats all cracked, bits of dash missing or broken etc etc etc the usual. every time it saw a hill coming on the M74 it started cowering. i did have much higher expectations from the first V8 i had driven. still, im putting it down to poor care and lack of TLC.
its the actros V8 i want a shot of. i would do 1 shift for free in one of them. limited to a trunk though. i wouldnt do any graft for nothing no matter what the truck was so city centres and country lanes are out of the question

youāve good taste. The 500/510ās are ok but the 540/550ās are when things get really interesting. A guy i know has a 2555 with a walking floor behind it loaded with woodchip. 50 ton and my 46ā still couldnt pass him coming outa glennons sawmill near cork and i was 11 ton lighter. 
there arent many trucks that make me jealous but there are a few irish V8s running around over here and they do make me jealous when i hear them roaring past. i love the sound of a good engine anyway and the V8s stand out from anything else. the scannie sounded good (one i drove earlier this year, not the one in this post) but it was rubbish. i like the sound of the V8 and i like the actros. put the 2 together and i would be a very happy man 
i dont get an actros these days. the one i did really like is no longer with the client.
they dont run artics now so it went back to where they hired it from. bookers used to run 51 plate actroses but they replaced them last year with TGAs
i dont know anyone who has any now
