Hi
New gen scania tacho flashes up during the night like every hour or so until my 9 off or 11 off.
Can’t see anything in the manual. Anyone know if I can turn this off rather than covering it every night?

Does it show an error or message or is it just that the back light switches on?
Just the back light illuminates. No error.
Nothing to worry about, just ignore it.

You can’t be working hard enough during the day if you notice that, you should be sound asleep.
Same thing happens on my DAF’s Stoneridge tacho. It illuminates itself periodically for no apparent reason.

I might stay awake now just to see if mine does this. I’ve never noticed it before but then again I’m normally sleeping with my face planted against the back of the cab 
My stoneridge does it on the MAN as well. Weirdly, it doesn’t do it every night…I don’t think!
What about if you take your card out rather than leave it in on rest?
Thanks guys, not sure about taking it out over night as we are told to leave in.
Strangely it doesn’t do every night either in trying to work out if I did anything different like maybe scroll through before leaving on bed but can’t figure it out. It’s odd though why it does it.
Everyone else in this thread who’s had it happen is using a Stoneridge tachograph.

Thanks, yes it is. So is this common and do you know if you can disable it. Some nights I don’t notice but others if in light sleep ill see something light up and think it’s maybe my phone as its on silent but maybe something up at home then I realise it’s the bloody tacho flashing every hour until my time off is up. Looked through the manual and nothing mentioned in it.
Can’t help I’m afraid, I’ve never heard of the problem until this thread.

Is it one of the new smart tachos? Just asking because they log your GPS position every so often. Could it maybe be that it’s wakening itself up when logging the GPS coordinates? Not saying it is that but it’s just a thought.

Just leave your phone in normal mode then?
If your family ever urgently needs to contact you then why have it on silent?

Afraid not, my tacho flashes, but is 3yrs old, and not GPS type.
Not a smart tacho… it matches this driver.

Your the driver, it’s your card, you legally are perfectly fine taking it out, I’d take it out even just for a few nights to see if it makes a difference.
Same information ultimately gets recorded on there (as long as you do your manual entry for your rest correctly) so I can’t see why it’s a problem.

Has anybody got to the bottom of this?? I’ve got a 17 plate S450 and it’s driving me up the wall. The display randomly lights up for between 1 and 5 seconds, sometimes ten times in 20 minutes, sometimes once an hour. It lights up half the cab. I put the question to google and this thread is all it came up with

My Stoneridge does it card in or out, after entering country, drawer open or closed.
Can’t say I notice it, but if it does bother you drape a duster over it?

Yeah mine does it constantly. Sometimes as I’m getting into bed I notice it, but 30 seconds later I’m away with the fairies. It doesn’t wake me so I’m not bothered about it.
