scania r730

an old boy was only saying to me the other day that were was the need for big power wagons? he said the managed to pull 30ton back in the day with less than 200bhp
it’s all for measuring ■■■■■ :grimacing:

That would be the bigger the lorry the smaller the ■■■■ then.
No need for 730hp in the UK - really not much need of anything over 500 unless for heavy haulage . Certinly if your yomping up and down the Alps or pulling 60 ton of timber out of a forest in Norway but where or what do you need it for in the UK?

We have got 5 v8 Scania’s, 3 x 620, 1 x 560, 1 x 500,
Without a doubt, best truck on the road. One of the 620,s has not had more than £100 spent on it since new (3 years). My boss is toying with the idea of getting a 730 at the moment !!!

Aye, it is a posers wagon but nowt wrong with posing! I wouldn’t mind people thinking I had a little ■■■■ if I could drive about in a 730 all day…

My missus says that I must drive a Foden with a Gardner 180 in it.

we were going to get a 730 on our fleet, but boss couldn’t justify the £143,000 scania wanted so gone for another 620 with all the toys, we work on max weight all the time and run out of the westcountry, the 620 can knock nearly 30 mins off a run to kent and return 2 miles per gallon better than my 420 full freighted. so the deffiently is a go reason to have a large engine truck in the uk, unless your doing shopping trolley work

Jeezus, £143k? In that case I most def will not be getting one. My R500 topline 6x2 was £80k 4 years ago, don’t suppose you know how much an R500 would be now? It’s all this emissions ■■■■■ that’s banging the prices up, euro 5 my arse.

Chris Wright is the owner of that one. First 730 on the road.

Cue the Yorkshire war cry

'Ow Much■■?

you can have all the power in the world but if its uncomfortable to drive then is wasted the R series interior is crap i know ive drove a few and tryed living in the bloody things.R series scanias are like a fit dumb blonde you could look at her all day and ride her every now and again cuz of the noise she makes but ya wouldnt want to live with her.if they aint got a v8 engine whats the point cuz lets be honest folk only want em for the noise they make id much rather have a 480 tgx xxl than a 480 topline.scania stopped building proper trucks when the made the last 143

Why when 460 b.h.p is enough at 44 tonnes, unless of course it’s for S.T.G.O, anyway it will almost certainly have a park bench for a seat and candles for headlamps, and no switch to turn the front fog lamps off.

a park bench? thats only if you specifiy a park bench. normally you get a deck chair so you can hide your shame of driving one.

weve been waiting weeks for the first silly boy to pull a container at the pitiful rates out of fxto docks with one, then we can all point and ave a right giggle
