Gaz, i have never worried about what others may or may not say mate! Life’s too short - enjoy!
Bill
Which did you prefer Bill the LB76, the 110 or the 111 obviously the newer models are supposed to be better than the previous model they replaced but it doesnt always work that way ,i couldnt comment has ive driven none of them , my first motor was a p cabbed 112 with rear lift and it was so easy to drive i also liked a topliner 113 i had which was an improvement over my older 112 and now ive had a backwards step to a 95 Daf .I dont think the old mk111 and mkv AECs you drove would compare favourably to the Scanias … or would they ?
Ramone ,the difference is too great and diverse to make a sensible comment on, I preferred the 110 to the 76 as the cab was so much better, but the 76 in it’s time was a hell of a motor too, the 110 was a bit of a dream when you had a 76 and it when you had an AEC either one seemed out of reach, especially when you are only 21 and just starting out, so i suppose to sum up, yes the AEC was hard work but when you dont know anything else what have you got for comparison? The 76 was a whole lot better than the AEC more powerful and a whole lot more comfortable, the 110 topped the lot t be honest although the 76 with a drawbar was a real headturner and went well too the 110 was a lot more modern and comfortable, they were all very good lorries in the day considering what was being asked of them at Wyatt’s !

You stay right where you are Stellan , everyone makes mistakes and it is not the end of the world to put something in the wrong thread - i have done it often ! keep posting!
Take no notice of the “politically correct” gang Stellan, for what its worth the Bewick thread is used for all kinds of garbage ( some of it mine !) so here go’s they can drool over this brand new 111 ( far better model than a 110) which I had just collected from the dealer that day in '79 and it is shot stood in the paper mill at Beetham, not far from the Bewick depot.benkku Cheers Dennis.PS it has no badges on it so I could claim it was a 110 !!
This scania was for sale in summerset about 20years ago it was advertised as a 4x2 unit but as you can see it was a rigid, looking back we should have bought it but it was too old to cut down into a unit and too heavy to run as a 4x2 at 16 ton .

Hi jamie its a small world i wonder where it is now maybe cut up , like i said i should have bought it
Here,s a 110 that belonged to jack ashworth it had been with bridon ropes originally the photo came to me today with some other stuff for my book on wool haulage there is another photo of it loaded with wool but i,ll keep that for he book.
This is the first of the photos I took on my recent trip. Appropriately enough, as soon as I had passed the sign for Södertälje, this old soldier greeted me. OK, it’s not an LB110, but the SBAT111 is a derivative of that model. It certainly made the right noise- anyone with his eyes closed would have said “Scania 11 litre.”
I visited the Scania Museum later, and the good people there told me that this lorry was not owned by them (theirs is factory grey!), but a private enthusiast. The Swedish Army has pensioned many of them off, so it is good to know that a few have fallen into the hands of collectors.
More to come over the coming days.
PS My new camera takes them at 12MP, so they need shrinking to fit on TNUK- is there an easier way of doing this, than stretching them to a percentage in Paint? That was the method I used, and it is a tedious process for an impatient old duffer. Anyone with superior PC skills to me, please PM me with advice. Ta.
Funny that is the same process as i use lol!
Good evening everyone!
This Ex-Netherland 111 was still working in the containerterminal in iquique/chile 2002.
This was the highlight of my recent trip. I saw this beauty near Urshult, Southern Sweden (on the road to Ryd, IIRC).
It is not restored, but very well preserved, and looks like it still does a bit, now and then. I would have taken more photos, but the owner was not to be seen- his dog, however, was, and was separated from me by a very flimsy-looking fence, so I departed rather hurriedly!
Found this at work when clearing out the other day, sales leaflet
