Scania Centurions

HI Mark,
That will be L3RWH then,i see it the other day coming out of linton and then see it again on the M25 somewhere.See you sat 31st at Truckfest Southeast.Paul

Found another three in my Truckfest collection. Eventually managed to drag the album out of the cupboard and scan a few in! Think it was '94. Also I have another couple of photos from the same Truckfest with the little gold badges in the top nearside part of the grille and nothing else (i.e. no markings on sun-visor and no side badge). I remember the gold badge but can’t remember whether they were exclusive to Centurions or not? Anyone know what i’m rattling on about??! If so let me know and I’ll get the photos up if they’re in the ‘Special 100’ Sorry about quality again, they don’t seem to come through the scanning process very well!

Roger, the little gold badges werent exclusive to Centurions, they were just to mark 100 years of Scania (i think it was 100 anyway,) they had a picture of an old fashioned car horn with the writing above and below if i remember rightly.

postman paul:
Hi all,
Here are some Scania Centurions taken at truckfest, anybody remember them or where they are now? Paul

The top one came to Norfolk for a while, it came from Scotland if i remember rightly, from an owner driver who i think used to pull potatoes about, it went to Roy Humphreys, my mate frove it for a while in tag axle form, Roger Breaker knows more.

The second one J100HGM was bought brand new by an old boss of mine, H.G Moore and son from Washam Le Willows in Suffolk, used on tilt work and tanker work (hence no spoiler kit as the tanker work involved a lot of farm work (lots of trees!) it was sold around the time S reg trucks came out, the last time i saw it it was pulling a purple euroliner, i think it may have had a spoiler kit on it, was 2 or 3 yrs ago that i saw it, no writing, just the same as in your picture, probably an owner driver.

One like this you mean?

Thus the kiddy!!!

I was able to purchase that about 9 months ago, brand new in the original box. Obviously old stock sitting on a shelf somewhere. I saw 1 make £130 on Ebay.

I doubt it, i never usually do!

That’s it, it got traded in for AFC’s first V-reg Premium (the one that i later had the pleasure of driving. (will stick some pics up of that little beauty when i get around to it!)) Definitely remember seeing the Uzi-mobile in CM after we got rid of it so either RH put it in there or someone that bought it off him i guess. Do you know Mr. Lee then kindle?

Yeah, that’s the badge. Didn’t think they were only on the Centurions, shant bother posting the other pics then. I was gonna say, if i knew the badges were gonna be making £130 nowadays i would’ve levered the one from ours before Humphrey got his hands on it, but looking at my picture it seems that someone already had!

Thats why mine is in my screen Rog, but if you come down to the Orwell T stop this weekend i’ll show it to you for a Quid! let ya touch it for a fiver! For charity of course.

Dont know Mr. Lee Roger, i know a bloke who did a bit of driving for RH drove the truck for a little while, im sure it had the tag on the back when he had it.
I should be coming down to the Orwell Sunday Rob, got to make sure fat boy is looking after my old truck, so will come and say hello. Unfortunatly i shant be drinking thou… ■■■■!!!

err… cheers :open_mouth:

Yeah, Simon made me aware of your post last night, that’s sprung up hasn’t it?! Or is it that i just don’t have my finger on the pulse so much anymore?! Wasn’t expecting it til about August time. Will very probably run down there i reckon. …especially if you’re getting your shiny badge out. (maybe you should’ve made people aware of that in your Crowfield post! ) If we come down i’ll be sure to give you a look mate.

Oh i see kindle, yeah it def. would’ve had then, it was converted either before or soon after it came down from t’north

It’s taken me a while i know, but it seems it lost a few horses on the trip down south! Maybe it’s our warmer climate.

It was never a 400 to start with, the original owner rebadged it when new. [think it was just before Scania released the 400 bhp 113] .
I assume the later owner wanted a more honest badge.

I allways thought it was a 360 in the first place, i do remember seeing it in a truck magazine when it was new as well, im sure the bloke said he swaped the 360 badge for a 400 badge. I may be wrong, as i said it was a long time ago!

Centurion No.066 - J525UPU I took this photo in Belluno, Italy 1991 loading fridges for a company in Canterbury called Blighline.
I was given this vehicle to drive at the age of 22 so you can imagine the looks I use to get here in the UK & on the continent.

Has anyone got any pics of Mortimer’s Centurion, the reg was J100 DMS it was a 4x2 LHD 143 450…

i’m not trying to be a troll, but i really didn’t like the streamline at all - the original 143 topline looked a million times better i though, but chacun son gout as they say in france
