Some swedish owner operator wanted to have a real engine in his Volvo and fitted V8 from Scania. There was a story about it in swedish Trailer magazine in the 80s, that’s where the pic is from. Never read the story, just found the pic in internet.

Here’s one. Kenny Ward and John Streek with their Scanias in Grangewood’s yard in Greenwich when we all worked there.
Mine was an F12 so I did not qualify for this picture!
All Grangewood’s motors went on export to Greece when they packed it in so don’t expect to see these again - except perhaps in Greece where they are no doubt still working their nuts off!

Used to see them regularly in & around Piraeus/Athens, the yard was on The National Road to Salonica on the left about 2kms from Piraeus St…
IIRC, the Hungarians had a fleet of 60 or 70 of these. To me, they are the ultimate lorry. The 3.4m wheelbase made them look “better-proportioned” than the shorter British-specification six-wheel tractors. No half-measures at the back either- double drive. Form following function:
Great pic dave , do you have any more grangewood pics , im going to build a model of the volvo f12 , when is was about 12 or 13 i used to go to grangewoods yard in norman road and clean the lorries on a saturday morning , i remember sym jones’s scania ( that was a very nice truck ) , im after a pic of the iveco they used to run as would like to build a model of that truck aswell ( that was my fav grangewood truck )
