Yes it does I got 3 points from the one at Atterby, when I asked a copper how it knows the size of vehicle etc he said theres some crystals in the road that can measure weight/speed etcDilithium crystals?
Piezo-electric crystals - They produce electricity when deformed by pressure. The more pressure, the higher the voltage. Same sort of crystals are used in “clicker” type igniters for ■■■ lighters, gas lighters etc.

There used to be a speed camera on the A505 between Duxford and Royston. That had what looked like a reflector on a post, about eight feet from the ground, a few feet from the camera. I once saw a Sainsburys lorry get flashed. It has now been removed.
That camera on the A505 had a loop of wire In the tarmac just before it, which would detect the amount of metal going over it (ie detect the type of vehicle)…
The reflector you refer to was a solar panel used to power the camera as it was a fair distance from the nearest power supply…
Yes it does, it is operated by the height of the vehicle, and goes of at 40/42.

i reckon after th 1st time, you went home, had a wash and a shave, clean shirt and a haircut, then did it again so you wouldnt look like a scruffy git if the pics went to court…
I think this guy should have his fine refunded and points removed from his record, since what he said has been admitted to be true by the government! http://www.lincolnshireecho.co.uk/People-die-truckers-stick-speed-limits-says/story-16837264-detail/story.html
A lorry driver who was caught speeding claims lives will be lost if he and other truckers stick to the limit.
Alan Kaye, 51, was caught doing 48 mph on the A15 southbound at Snitterby, by a speed camera.
The limit for his 44-tonne double-decker articulated lorry and other HGVs over 7.5 tonnes is 40mph on the single carriageway road. It is 60mph for cars.
Mr Kaye claims traffic police turn a blind eye to lorries that go marginally over the limit, and argues it is unfair that speed cameras give no quarter.
That bit about the police is true except if your in dumfries and galloway.

there are height cameras on the old severn bridge for when its closed to high sided vechiles due to the wind
I thought they were for enforcing the weight limit on the bridge?
