Scampton A15

I got 3 points at the one just over Dunham Bridge on the A57 and that was 5-6 years ago. I was gutted I was doing 50mph and it flashed and couldn’t work out how it did it until I went past several weeks later and noticed some marks on the road and figured out it must be on weight. I definately slow down now.

dont speed = no points if the warehouse or anything out of your control make you late leaving just add the extra time to the end of the journey, you dont have a time machine so why make up the time they lost you i work as a shunter at the moment and see the overside of things if a driver is waiting i just keep telling the warehouse he’s waiting and they take no notice

That attitudes fine if you live to work, I work to live. It’s entirely up to personal choice about the speed you go, me personally, flat out when safe/possible to do so, thats just me.

Yeah I was in a 7.5t the other week and it flashed me doing 48 mph. Never heard anything of it and when I asked a local plod when I arrived in spilsby he said it will flash anything above a certain height the they work out the weight from the reg…

Like I said, I never heard anything of it so I wouldn’t worry…

My son was flashed some time ago going past the Belfrey doing 48 in a 50 limit in a large 7.5 tonner, heard nothing more about it.
Apparently these cameras will mistake a large 7.5 for an HGV.

Does such technology really exist and is it installed, do we know?

I’m not sure if height detectors are used, but there are certainly speed cameras which have induction loops buried in the road to detect large vehicles, you can see where these have been retro-fitted.

IIRC, they’re called Piezo sensors.

I’m wary of what ‘they’ (ie, Big Brother & His Electronic Surveillance Boffins) have up their sleeves in-lieu of having proper Plod in jam-jars on the Highway and want to both stay one step ahead as well as avoiding points hassle*(obviously!)*.

I spoke to the Lincs safety camera people, when I got my NIP, I asked them how they differentiate the vehicles caught.
They said they use both height sensors and loops in the road surface, depending on the environment…They also said that they are fitting more height sensors to cameras in the county :unamused: I go to my speed awareness cours on the 21st  Looking forward to it, as I don`t get out much

there are height cameras on the old severn bridge for when its closed to high sided vechiles due to the wind

From personal experience a lot of the gatzos in lincolnshire have some sort of anpr system working. My one AND ONLY speeding offence was on the A15. Static camera - ticket arriving at Walkers shortly afterwards. My privellage to be on a Speed Awareness course, where the instructor told me that there were 3 forces with trial access to this software - Lincs, Notts and Staffs.

I believe all three Gatso’s on the A15 between Lincoln and the M180 will flash trucks exceeding 40mph. Admittedely I always tram on down that road as much as I can, though normally I’m somewhere in a one mile tail back following an Immingham based fuel tanker or a Walkers crips truck etc doing 36mph. In February I was in a world of my own and didnt brake in time for the one in question by the show ground and went by at 46mph (according to my satnav) and did not get flashed, a very close call I’d say!

I got nicked by this camera recently, 49mph

I understand such devices as being quartz based to measure vibration, which adds up, thanks.

I have just joined the club 48 mph. Are these little ■■■■■■■ marked like normal cameras I did not know there was such a thing for comercial vehicles. Also the letter came straight from plod rather than through my employer.

It flashes at 40 that c.u.n.t flashed me a before Xmas but there must of been a car real close behind me because I’ve heard nothing back

Gatsos are radar triggered. Trucks give off a much bigger Doppler return than cars. It will even flash coaches at 48 ish mph.

Expect a NIP very soon, I’ve been done there for 48 in a wagon myself.

I was clockin a bit more no nip also the offence is now too old to prosecute older than 14 days

Yes it does I got 3 points from the one at Atterby, when I asked a copper how it knows the size of vehicle etc he said theres some crystals in the road that can measure weight/speed etc

They have to inform the registered keeper within 14 days, not the driver.
One of our lads got his NIP 3 months after being flashed.

Well boss hasn’t had anything through I told em as soon as I got back to he yard he said he’s going to look out for anything but nothing has been sent to him

I mean when j said before Xmas I mean like august time
