Scammell Routeman

They were at 28 ton then went to up to 30.49 the R reg i had tared at 9.80
with a full tank so could carry 20.69 better payload than a lot of todays 32.00
eight wheelers.

Great shot,I wonder what sort of payload that Scammell could get on at 24 tons GVW ? Cheers Bewick.

Dennis I think the later models were plated 28 Tonne, A haulier from Blackhill N B Transport ran them, Regards Larry.

Hiya Larry, surely that single drive 8 wheeler would only have been a 24 tonner ? I realise that they increased GVW later on,probably when they started to use the Albion double drive eh! Cheers Dennis.

Aye Dennis the ones NB ran did have the Albion DD Backends in them hence the light tare weight,so your probabley right about the trailing axle models running at 24 T, Regards Larry.

You know a lot more about Brady’s than I do Frank ( well you were the Big’uns Blue eyed boy!!) 4 units and 2 eight wheelers !! Wouldn’t all these Scammells have had 150LX Gardners in them as the 180 didn’t come out until 67/68.Were both the 8 wheelers lettered Furness Transport ? The shots of the two units on this thread are “C” and “D” reg,can you re-call the regs.of the other two ? Get your thinking cap on mate and lets have all the gen !!! Cheers Dennis.
