Nice to see J A Wilkinson they mainly used the Scammells on tipper work out of Bairds Malt at Witham gave us great service Wilkies did about 95% of the work out of Bairds both bulk and sacks of malt and the rates where good tippers paid round trip example London 133 Pounds in the 70s and they could do 2 a day no back loading purpose built trailers, brings back a lot of memories great photos keep them coming

When i was a kid my dad drove for a local tipper firm in Sittingbourne. They only had six wheelers at the time but about 1975/6 they bought their first eight wheeler. It was a brand new Scammell Routeman (LKR 72P) and my old man got it. I spent many happy school holidays in that motor and it was soon joined by another. I only wish i’d taken some photos of it…even many years after his retirement dad still says it was one of the best tippers he ever had.
Scamm73,i bet this was an unusual lay out at the time ,eight wheeler with a 4 in line trailer!
