Evening all,
now curnock, Kerbell Fastners, now that is an interesting company, and that lorry had some “history”, can you tell us more■■?
Cheerio for now.
kebrell is owned by ray who is a londoner and an old mate of my dads, who used to drive for charles richards fasteners in the early 70’s and deliver to one of rays depots in london .thats how i got the job.i will always be very grateful to him for that cause at 21 nobody would give me a start.
as for the wagon it was owned by scammell motors and driven by an elderly bloke, who had a heart attack. then ray brought it.it was a loverly motor to drive, straight six box but cant remember what engine was in it.
ray lived in a village called harbury in warwickshire and he entered this and another vehicle in the village carnival in 1988.the scammell being dressed as a robin hood float, had some fun that day i think it came third.dont know if he still got it,but just after i took this photo he put a curtainsider body on it which in my opinion didnt suit it.that was back in 1996.

That’s fascinating. I never realised just how many firms ran these. I always fancied a Routeman but the nearest I got was using a Handyman to load a trailer while my usual motor, an A-series ERF was being serviced.
Few Routeman Tipper pics
