At least it’s a fetish that’s not illegal – yet!!
Here’s another I scrounged from t’Internet:
hiya,
Remember Glendinning getting three Crusaders pretty soon after they came on the scene, i fell in love with them immediately, was far too junior to qualify for one, that’s as in service not years plus the management and me was’nt very close, but did do an odd trip with one of them which did cement my love for them even stronger, i can remember one of them came unstuck on the A19 i think and ended up wrecked on it’s side in a field it was rebuilt and looked like new again, so i must have the “fetish” as well and long may it continue and i’m happy with that so long as it’s not affected by the new VAT increase.
thanks harry long retired.
Here you go fellas another Kiwi one. This one has survived,I saw it a few weeks ago and is in line to be restored.

Another Internet find:
A lorry in Charles Alexander’s livery always looks the part, including Scammells.
Bewick:
Yea I have Johnnie! The’ve got you down as a “skiver”—it was still light so you could have got down the road another 40/50 mile surely! Dennis.
Did you ever considered buying Scammells Dennis?

Wheel Nut:
Unfortunately the Crusader was left to die and it should have been the British flagship motor, forget the T45 and Marathons, they were mean looking and regrettably one of the many trucks I never drove. They were a very common sight coming out of Hull on the old A63 though.

Found a colour picture of this motor on the Old North East thread:
hiya,
Have actually driven this motor but only for a couple of trips but fell in love with it, one hell of a motor, was quickly back on my own motor a 180 Gardner engined ERF yuk.
thanks harry long retired.
Off topic Harry, do you know how many lorries Glendinning owned at their peak?

hiya,
It was the early 70s when i did my bit for Glenny but at that time they would have had roughly twenty motors all British manufacture and a mixed bag of trailers flats, tippers and car transporters, they did open another depot at Pity Me but how big the fleet grew i don’t know i’d thankfully left them by then.
thanks harry long retired.
Thanks again to bubbleman for this one:
Found another Australian:
Alte Express from South Wales had a six wheel unit with a Detroit in it, it use to catch the Olau Line from sheerness on a sunday night back in 84/85, anyone have a photo.
Nice Aussie one Steve,
I’ve not seen that headlight set up before,or that ‘Crusader’ badge. The roof looks different too.
