Can anyone familiar with Eastern Europe tell me what’s going on here?

I suggest the driver has just stopped for his lunch break. I’m just wondering if this short semi-trailer is fitted with a Scammell coupling.

Or “Oh, merde!”.
The Citroën GS was my first car, in 1977. A brilliant 1015 cc boxer (flat-four), but greedy and rather unreliable. Of course, it was second-hand and made in 1970, bit nevertheless, its bonnet had to be lifted too often to my taste.
nmp - might have been a Mack, judging by the ambiguous caption

That style of cab- IIRC, it is a post-Television Pelpel- has some similarities with the unidentified one on the Saviem a few posts back.
This apparently Belgian-registered Commer looks an interesting oddity.

At that time, Bernard belonged to Mack, and was slowly dying away. I think this cab was also fitted on a handful of Leyland trucks.

Nice picture of two Unic ZU (120 or 122 T). Registered in 1955 (left) and 1954 (right), but both have non-standard front wheels. Maybe our friend Unic will tell more?

The one on the left appears to have Trilex-type front wheels while the one on the right has standard ones if I see it correctly.
