Hi Dave,
Hope Liz and yourself keeping out of trouble?
That is a big van for that 'oss ain’t it?
I think the Wippersnapper is still wandering around this side of the channel, lost in Nottingham last I heard! Cheer’s Pete

Hi Pierre… We’re good, and you and the boss are well I hope…

Well, that 'oss is a Bretagne 'oss, they make 'em big here…

As for that Whippersnapper, he only keeps in touch when he either wants summit, he’s broke, or hungry, typical brat…wish we’d sold him years ago…

Fergie47:
A mix of old B&W…

A fine collection indeed.

I visited the Sinsheim Technical museum (Germany) yesterday thought a few of the lorries might be of interest to some of you. The following text I have attempted to translate into English/Scottish.

The Vomag was used in Munich in 1928 for transporting beer. It then went to Ireland in the 1930s, where it served without any problems until the end of the 1960s. It was then painstakingly restored to its original condition in England and has been permitted to return home to Germany for a limited period by the current owner.

Technical Data:
Built: 1928
Engine size: 7.474 ccm
Power: 58 PS

As for the next one, I am not sure of the model, apart from it being a Mercedes

Remember this then Senior, when you came round to visit Amsterdam, and me and the gang (Johnny, Pete, David Jr and Richard) stripped that dodgy Peugeot of yours to the ground! If I remember correctly it was Mrs Fergie that took the pic and was highly amused for some reason…

The French Mathis motorcar marque started life in Strasbourg,Germany, but,as a result of the First World War,Strasbourg became part of France.
Due to poor sales, the Mathis marque’s owner,Emile Mathis, entered in to an agreement with Henry Ford in 1934:Mathis would manufacture Ford
V8 motorcars for the French market, and these motorcars were sold under the Matford marque - a combination of the Mathis and Ford names;production rapidly concentrated wholly on Ford V8 motorcars, which were essentially American-British models and similar in appearance, with local minor trim differences. Mathis also made vans until 1936. Matford also produced American-designed Ford vans and lorries, and also produced it’s own design forward control lorry range until 1946.

The agreement between Ford and Mathis ended in 1945-1946,and the now independent Mathis tried to get newly designed motorcar models in to
production,including the Mathis 333,707cc,front wheel drive,2 front-wheels,1 rear wheel,streamlined coupé motorcar and the 666,2.8-litre,flat
six, front wheel drive,4x2 with all round independent suspension and typically French eccentric styling, which was basically square with slab sides :unamused: -no wonder it didn’t enter production!! :exclamation: :exclamation:
The Mathis factory was sold to Citroen in 1954.

Ford went out on their own and built motorcars in France from 1947-1954,then Simca bought the Ford Poissy factory and the rights to build the motorcars. In 1963 the American Chrysler corporation bought Simca;the company name was changed to Chrysler in 1970.
Peugeot-Citroen bought Chrysler’s British and European operations in 1978;the historic Talbot marque name (with both British and French
connections historically) was resurrected and used from 1979 to 1985 on motorcars and to 1994 on light commercial vehicles.Simca had
bought the moribund French Talbot motorcar company in 1958.The Peugeot marque name replaced the Talbot marque name in both cases.

NOTE:Chrysler made a valiant return to the European and British motorcar markets in 1994 ((Europe) and 1996 (United Kingdom)

Hello Gentlemen

I hope this message finds you well.

Today I am just back from my first run of this year (one out of just three this season, as things stand right now).

It was in the Provence Region, organised by ASPTA (Association de Sauvegarde du Patrimoine Technique Automobile).
Second time I participated (along with my Dad who was quite happy to suffer the bumpy ride in the 2-series all the way from Switzerland to Brignoles and back).

Why do I like this run? because I find it has he right balance on a number of levels: The right number (about 35 vehicles this year), the right duration (3 days all-in), the right distance (some 3-4 hrs’ effective driving every day, the rest is visits and other activities, most notably eating!), the right audience (a number of dedicated, passionate collectors who have known each other for many years and remain dedicated to the event as much as to their motors).

A great run altogether, and I took a few pictures which I will be sharing on here shortly.

Cheers
David
