Found these today…
It looks the trucks on pics 1 (MAN) and 3 (Magirus n°39) have special cabs, probably manufactured by a coachbuilder. I have no recollection seeing these old bonneted MANs in France. They were fine-looking trucks.

Nostalgic French pic for the week…Just a guess…Daimler-chassis?
ERF…I wouldn’t have thought so, the French were pretty loyal to their own manufacturers at that time, and there were numerous makes around for them to chose from…however, as I’m usually 99% wrong and should just stick to posting the pics up, I hope someone with experience will perhaps identify the marque for you…lovely old photo though…

The LHD Atkinson CLT model - here’s the link, Froggie! RobertThanks! It’s said somewhere that only 10 were built.
The actual number built is uncertain: however, Comberhill Commercials were advertising a choice of 10 tractors in an advert in Comical Motor in the autumn of 1970.
There was a least one rigid built, too, and which seems to have ended up in Jamaica.
Can anyone identify the coachbuilders of the cabs on the Pax Henschel and Magirus’? They look quite smart- at least the ones on the Maggies do.
We need an expert in Dutch/Belgian lorries on here. Those countries showed far greater coachbuilding skills than GB, so it seems from the photographs we have seen. Whatever your preference in 1950s/'60s chassis, would you choose anything other than a Dutch cab for it?
If I can still remember the cabs on the Maggies were factory cabs. The Henchels I am less sure about.

I’m not an expert, anything but really, but I think you’ll find that those are Hogra build cabs…but I might be wrong as usual…
Collected this from Alkmaar in Holland back to Wednesbury for shot blast and spray, drove great for a 14 yr old motor

Hi Fergie,
Yes spot on, wish I could have that configuration on the hook loaders but as they run on landfills twice a day I need them with double drive and the tridem set up is just too expensive to justify, Cheer’s Pete ps. never saw that pv83 bloke knocking about whilst I was over there!

Ey up Pete!
Did you collect it from Anema perchance? They’re quite the trader in that region, did you get on the party ferry back home then
One of my first lorries was such a day cabbed Scanny, was fitted with the 230bhp engine and had a 8 speed gearbox, lovely motor that was, although not very spacious…
Oh and for your information, I was quite busy doing Fergie’s work here in rural France…

Hi Patrick,
I collected truck from Koks in Alkmaar and it is to be re-registered for use in this country, I caught the boat from the Hook over to Killingholme rather than Rotterdam to Harwich that gave me a couple more hours of party time and Killingholme is only 2.5 hrs from the yard, I have offered Fergie the hire of my David Brown to help him out in his busy season but as it has 12 gears…
I would have taken the long way round then Pete, Rotterdam-Hull
When I get back home I’ll will dig up some pic’s from its time with its previous owner, they’ve got quite a interesting fleet…the name is on the tip of me tongue, what I do know is that they’re based in Huizen, couple of clicks east of Amsterdam.
12 gears? Blimey mate, that’s nowt for Fergie, you know how keen he is on having a auto 'box…

Hi Patrick,
Just looked at log book and it was owned by Teeuwissen at Huizen, they have some expensive looking kit, that one I fetched would be near to £275,000 to build new, ouch! Here is a pic I found off the net,
Excuse my ignorance Pete but what does this lorry do?

It is a jetter vacuum unit, the front tank has capacity for 2,000 + 1,000 litres of clean water for jetting drains gullies etc at up to 160 bar, and the rear 3/4 of the tank collects the waste by sucking it up basically and that is a tipping tank for discharging it,that is the basic of it as I’m more of a dry waste man and tend to keep away from that side of the business, there are too many levers, valves and gauges for my liking! It is very over specced in my view, them Dutchmen do not mess around with bad tackle…ask Patrick!
It was plated for 36 ton when in Holland and tares in at just under 20 ton, Cheer’s Pete

Fergie, I wouldn’t stand for any of this young whippersnapper’s cheek. He’s getting too big for his boots. You’ll need to put him in his place!

I’d say it’s a 8x2/6. Drive on axle 3, and axles 1, 2 and 4 steered. We do see such trucks in France, mostly flatbeds for building material deliveries with a crane and the far rear end. Not advised to get off the macadam, I’d say!

Hi Froggy,
Yes that is the set up, it will turn on a six pence!
