Fergie’s snow plough…
Discovered some pic’s of military vehicles that ended up civvy street at the end of WWII… Only conversions that were done was swopping the petrol engine for a diesel engine and with just that some of them were kept in service 'till the early 70’s because their “modern” counterparts were considered less powerfull and reliable…

Definitely a Thorny, David, but I couldn’t say which model. I’ve tried counting the number of wheel studs but the photo’s not quite good enough.10 stud and Trusty… 2 drops of Optrex Anti Glaze in the scrumpy recommended ROF
Oily
Cheeky young whippersnapper! If I had stayed with BRS I would probably be able to afford a trip to Specsavers!
Last batch of photos. Pictures 2, 8, and 9, the old AEC (think they’re Matadors)…use to drive one like that around the yard as a 16 year old apprentice, it was one of the workshop recovery wagons… …makes me feel old…
…yeah, and before anyone says it, I know I am…

Wouldn’t dare commenting about your age mate, think my life is still too precious…
How did those AEC’s handled though? Hard to drive I can imagine…?
They were OK around the yard or in the forest but you wouldn’t want a regular London/Aberdeen run in one!

I’ll second that ROF…the power steering was in your arms, so.when reversing, use to stand up and let her go on tick over, to shunt her around, …think ours had a central winch, so, front or back pull… Despatcher might remember a bit more, his Dad use to own it… …
Hi Dave
Sure it wasnt 6x6 with a crane fitted Joe Appleton used to operate it most of the time,it sounds more like FOR547 a Foden timber truck?
