I would like to dedicate this one to Fergie, here you go mate, some sort of christmas present…
Really great pictures Patrick. Some really interesting ones, even to my limited knowledge of your “convoy exceptional” world.

The blue truck on the right looks Russian; perhaps a Kraz?

Got two already… no room at the inn.
A long overdue reply to Johhny Sutherland. Sorry mate I missed your post.
Simples; I lived there for 25 years and for some of that time worked as a driver.
David.

Thanks David. That was sure a long stint. I’ve only been a mere 13 years in Germany.

Norwegian N88 in the snow…don’t ask… haven’t a clue what that’s all about,
Nice ones…again…
But this one here really tickles the mind…
And about those “oh bugger” moments…what on earth is a car transporter doing in the woods…? That’s surely not a matter of taking the wrong junction, is it…
Dave, in the tanker lying on its side photo I see he has the 5th wheel still attached to the pin .

Two batches of excellent pictures! This Latil road rescue truck was based in Sancoins, 60 kms south from where I live. Every time I drove past it, I said to myself that I should definitely photograph it before it disappears. I never did, but obviously someone else did!
Third truck on your first batch is a Rochet-Schneider. Bought by Berliet in 1952.

Nigel, and the rear axle of the tractor ripped off as well, might have been a double drive, still, one hell of an accident …

Nice info there Froggy, amazing how one photo can mean a lot and jog a memory to someone, isn’t it…
