Fergie47:
Teaser…what and where is this…bottom pics a clue, I know Froggy will guess it, but the rest of you lads ?
It’s not the old premises where the “Locomotion en fête” was being held, is it?
Looks more like a site where once upon a time a factory was to be found…?

I’ve not been on this website for a while, but I just want to say that I’ve seen the post that said John (“Saviem”) had died and while that’s a sad thing, I think he’d be stoked to see this thread still going strong.

Just discovered the quizz. I must say I’m in the dark too, even if it must be somewhere in France. Perhaps a test ring like Michelin’s near Clemont, or where the Berliet Trucks were tested near Lyon? Or maybe an abandoned army camp?

Almost there Froggy… .Its all that remains of the huge Berliet complex at Venissieux, south of Lyon, that once covered over 2 square kms, making and forging just about everything needed to make their camions
Here is a mix of photos of the construction of some of the buildings, and the work carried out in its heyday…
2016…and the years almost up. We’ve lost a few of the old lads that contributed to this thread, and of course John who made the thread what it is, nice to see its still going, still of interest, and still being well viewed and contributed to, I’m sure John would be pleased…
I’ve been trying to pick a photo that brings home French wagons, and France in general,. I can’t find one, there’s too many good ones to chose from all those that have been posted up by so many people…but…I like this one, its not a lorry, but its so French…so this is my choice …no doubt you all have your own favourites
I wish you all a happy new year and hope that 2017 is good to you and your families…
Thanks Fergie for all those sterring pictures! I had never seen most of them. Do you really mean everything of the Berliet premises in Venissieux was scraped down to the ground? What will be built there instead? A kind of huge commercial estate, another wart?
Cold and foggy here since yesterday. All my best New Year wishes to all mates on TruckNet, my main and favourite link with Britain!
Thank you Fergie. It is a cracking photo that is soooo French. I would like to thank all the contributors on here, text and photos. Often the photos stimulate the posts as forgotten Memorandum are awoken. I regret so much that I took no photos of my driving days. I took a few of others, but never of my own. So I am grateful to those who have.
Wishing you all a very happy new year’s Eve and all the best for 2017.
