Can any of you fine french speaking folks give us an idea of whats what in these pics of saviem sm8 4x4 dash layout. Hoping to drive it on tuesday and had no luck in my thread. The user manual pdf is here if any kind soul could glance over it and heads me on the important bits. http://xtrmexport.com/camion_4x4_saviem_trm_4000/saviem_4x4_sm8_trm_4000_guide_de_conduite.pdfI think 28 and 30 are the axle and diff locks but not sure.
The guy selling said 15 is the parking brake? but hes not that familiar with the truck.
Cheers fellas
As far as I can point out, 13 means parking brake and 15 is the trailer brake, whilst 16 is your average braking pedal for the whole system.
Nrs. 27 to 30 are all related to the diff locks, not sure though what it all means…?
Maybe Fergie, Michel or Robert can help you out here…?
Cheers, Patrick

Read an interesting article this week about UniPower, and more important the C-series, this being the first “civil” lorrie in the UniPower’s historyAs for UniPower itself, they too encountered some “turbulent” times, once part of Alvis they then changed hands and did end up at some Singapore firm, whilst the rights went to Tractomas…
I think from memory we dealt with them after they’d taken over support of the older Thornycroft Nubian types in the 1970’s.I also think I remember they had some connection with what remained of the old AC Cars factory at Thames Ditton before it closed.
29 is diff lock
30 ,is for small or high speed locking of the diff
Edit to add, 15 is Trailer brake.

Think I’ve read about that connection with AC once before, can’t remember in which article it was though… will see if I can dig something up.

I think you can lock the rear diff, can also lock front and rear drives. asfaik, you dont want that on the road cos it can wind up and do bad things to the transfer box etc.
Unfortunately a lot of text is in ‘picture form’, so cant just copy/paste it into a translator.
Am sure I can work it, just dont wana break it , cheers for the pointers
This is a toy Liebherr compared to what you have on Patrick but quite agile in the hands of a meister.

It wasn’t as heavy as I thought it was going to be… machine weights in at 39.800kg, running weight tipped the scale then at 66ish tonnes.
Width was 3.35m, running height was 4.20m

You’re not keen on the “try and error” approach then I reckon…

Not If its mine
I never would have guessed that Hungarocamion had a heavy haulage division, stumbled upon the following today…
Cheers, Patrick
Hi Patrick, nice pictures and a rather nice Liebherr on the back. I am a little surprised to see you “only” have 480 horses under your seat. I would have thought a few more horses wouldn’t go amiss.
Regards
Johnny
