Buzzer:
Can not comprehend not having Saviems input on this thread after his passing, rarely not on page one just says it all to me so popular was his contributions with not only a mass of information shared with us all but all the anecdotes about the people he dealt with that he knew personally in the Industry over his working life.
We have lost a great contributor and here was a man that should have written a book, it would have been a great read but alas this was not the case but through TNUK we have all enjoyed his memories of a very full life. Still busy day to day although retired from active farming still helped out at busy times with his various passions weather his animals, old trucks and the like ending the day on the computer sharing this all with us.
Fergie is right we should try and keep this thread going in John’s memory although it wont be the same without his vast knowledge but at least we should give it our best shot, once again condolences to all his family we have lost a good man, Buzzer.

+1…agree with everything you’ve said J.D…

To keep Saviem’s memory and thread alive,
Here is a photo ( re-posted off another thread) of one of the 10 Gobstoppers supplied to London Rubber Company by John, and they belonged to John as well as the york trailers, sold to Wincantons when John disposed of that side of his business, Cheer’s Pete

In the middle of the 60th, Saviem which has equiped its high range with Henschel engines ,began to buy M.A.N engines in the JM 170,200 and later 240 hp. In 1968, they launched the tilt cab range SM always with the German engines. In reciprocal, M.A.N bought the french cab on its new cabover range. Later some other OEM were tried ,and as Saviem told us ,a Rolls Royce one was experimented in a PS 30.

Merci Michel

Quite off topic and unusual buth John and I had frequent contact on the strange
products just like Oshkosh of Winconsin (where my eldest daughter lives) and the
other brands as Pacific, Sterling. Out of extensive archives and memories we had
too big plans and I regret we’ll never succeed to results on our approaches.

Again R.I.P. John Goodreid

I’ll try to contact David Sly-Jex from ex-DAF Trucks to inform on your final journey.

Lets all keep this very informative going

It’s a small world as they say, here are a couple of pictures took at the Leyland Museum 30 years ago! Have been posted before but to lighten the mood and give Fergie another opportunity to extract the urine! 1st pic is of my friend Robert Bate’s Atki with me aged 16 in passenger seat but parked next to us was John’s Atki Defender which I never realised he owned till he mentioned it on this thread! ( pic of John’s Atki is Ronnie Cameron’s) Cheer’s Pete
ps. Crusader is the name of Roberts steam roller which the Atki pulled around on a Taskers “knock out” lowloader.

Not as many as I could eat in a year, but a few less than you eat for breakfast …every day… :smiling_imp:
