I’'m considering changing my shift from Monday - Friday away to Saturday - Tuesday away. I will be better of financially and obviously will have an extra day off a week.
Does anyone work this or have any views. I’m thinking the roads will be quieter, easier to find somewhere to park up and a nice change.
Any downsides that you can think of that I’m missing?
I find motorways worse at weekends. Theres less traffic but the type of driver using them changes. Instead of the majority knowing what they’re doing you get the once a year motorist whos petrified of driving.
depends on your private life really
3 days off a week sounds good, but if your wife/girlfriend/partner etc work
then your days off are going to be spent on your own, if you don’t mind
that then it sounds like a good deal

Surely that is only on one day of the year though [emoji38]
I do Fri-Mon. Love it. Can do as many extra hours as legally possible if I want to on either end of my shift, and I get them all at my rate of pay.
Friday night can be a pain to find parking, especially if I’m trying to get on Thurrock. But other than that I find the roads really free and easy (but then again, I used to do multi drop, mainly in London.)
If it suits your life, and your signficant other(s) life(s), and it pays sufficiently to compensate for 2 full premium days every single week, including average holiday pay, then go for it.
I work lots of saturdays on my rota and probably 10 sundays a year, with loads of off days, fortunately no nights out, the sat and sundays are by far the easiest of the week but you need to use your loaf a bit to avoid shopping centres near to main routes which clog the surrounding roads up with all the other poor buggers forced into weekend shopping hell…ie Lakeside approaches especially near Christmas, you really couldn’t pay me enough to go there.

Although I’d like more days off you can’t beat that locking the cab up on a Friday feeling…

yes I work Saturdays ,zb nightmare ,when my mates are down the pub getting ■■■■■■ up I’m sat staring at some shop gates for hours upon end ,sat there watching everyone bar you making there way to the clubs/ pubs ,15 hr shifts ,can’t believe your even considering it ,everyone I know are trying too get off w/ end work ,notgo on it
I normally work mon to Fri, odd sat every three or four months, but I recently drove a wagon for a mate on a Saturday from Bolton to Glasgow, it was like a revelation
I could very easily be persuaded to do weekend work just for the lack of stress factor (her family come around at the weekends )
