Satnav in window =p.g.9

i got talkin to a fleet engineer & he told me 1 of his drivers got done for havin a satnav on the windscreen!! what about all the geezers with flags & johnny euro drivers with all their tat in the windows!! can someone enlighten me?

Probably if the inspector is very picky, but I would say its unlikely

It depends have you seen where some of the muppets put there Sat navs though

he said if it comes within the sweep of the wiper blades …yr done!!

Why doesnt it surprise me?.At least with a coach you have a window at the side to stick them to.

correctamundo !!!

you’d have to be a picky S.O.B to do someone for that though eh :bulb:

whole fleet have been told to remove name plates from screen as VOSA have said they will gv 9 everyone they see

So it doesnt matter about mr laptop looking at his maps while driving

I do sometimes wonder about designers - Sat-navs - good idea - but why design them to be fixed onto the screen :exclamation: :open_mouth:

Do the designers consult with road safety experts

All the ones i’ve seen come with an alternative ‘hardmount base’ which is designed to be put somewhere other than the windscreen.

I dont see the problem with them being on the screen.

The problem is not them being on the screen, the problem is them being in the wiper swipe area.

well I put the satnav on the inside so it wont cause a problem

why havent truck manufacturers worked out that a simple blank plate of steel or toughned glass, big enough to attach a sucker mount, attached to the dash would be even better for viewing and security as the theiving toe rags wont be able to see it or the rings on the windscreen that get left.

it will also be easier to input information on the satnav as you wont be leaning over the steering wheel, obviously not while driving and you ont have wires draped over the dash getting in the way of buttons/switches/fridge controls!

We’ve recently been read the riot act.

Obscuring the drivers view of what?

bubsy06:
Obscuring the drivers view of what?

Any part of the road ahead which could previously be seen through the windscreen when it was not there.

Andâ– â– ? what is dangerous about that? you can still see a vehicle and a person with a sat nav in the windscreen, if you cant it is the driver who needs taking out.

Hi Rog

a friend of mine had a same prob he solved it by putting Velcro on the dashboard and then on the sat nav worked a treat and never fell off till he riped it off year later

what a feed of â– â– â– â– . so they expect you to go back to using maps again. i know a lot of drivers usse maps and even i do sometimes, if the satnav does my head in, but i find using a satnav is quicker as you are not constantly stopping to look at teh map if you are in a completely new area. just makethe runs take longer and when they ask why arent all teh deliveries being done tell them its simple, its because we have to stop and read maps!

Dear Colleages

That’ll be ASDA then!!!

I can’t believe all this PG9 stuff over a satnav in the window. Next someones gonna say they’ll be giving you fixed penalties for trivial things instead of doing ‘foreigners’
