Hi guys I’ve been given this from my brother. I wanted to know who has used Tom Tom make sat navs for trucks before. How good are they compared to snooper make?
What do you make of this?
hi i bought this one
ebay.co.uk/itm/7-HD-Europe-U … 25672977bb
from Hong Kong - works fine, but it doesnt have low bridges etc as mentioned in the sellers adverts of the link u posted. it does have truck option but only really adjusted eta based on speed and chooeses better route i.e. motorways, A roads etc…as i said im happy with it, bluetooth isnt the best though but dont really use it. hope this helps
Hello,
i recently purchased one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/ctg/TomTom-GO-730-Western-Europe-Automotive-GPS-Receiver-/86143209?_dmpt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&_pcategid=156955&_pcatid=121&_refkw=tomtom+730+go&_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A5251&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
and then added the latest navcore and truck map onto a sd card so now have truck on sd card and the original car navigation on the internal memory.
Hi Bluecraig
Looks too good to be true at that price mate let us know if you buy one i have a tom tom 720 GO and the wife udated it with Hight /width restrictions ect lol shes the brainy one it does’nt re route you but lets you know in plenty of time of hazards .
Best wishes Roy
That does look really good. Let us know how it is if you get one mate
I use co pilot truck nav on my phone. Works really well, and to me its worth the money. It integrates nicely with the rest of the phone so picking up phone calls is nice and easy, and you can play your music through it at the same time, it mutes the music when directions are called out. If you have an iPhone or an android based phone its worth a look. I’ve used it on an iphone 3g, which worked fine if slightly slow at times, though now I use it on an HTC sensation and its brilliant on that. (the satnav software you get with the HTC is good too but for truck use its not a patch on co pilot.)
I noticed on that Ebay page that there were only 10 in stock. So I messaged the seller asking if he gets a steady stream of stock or if its a one off.
He told me that they’ll be stocking them continuously. Just letting you all know in case like me you want one but can’t afford it just yet.
I also just received an email from the seller regarding returning the product if it turns out to be s***.
His reply
You have a 7 day change of mind option, basically, if you don’t like it, you can return it for a refund, it must be kept immaculate, clean, safe, undamaged, and with the screen protectors, so basically, you send it back to us in the condition you received it. The refund will be £7 less than you paid as this covers the postage cost of sending it out to you., you’ll also need to cover the postage of sending it back to us, idealy Special delivery as that insures the item if lost or damaged in post on way back to us, and the receipt has a tracking number which also serves as your proof of postage. You MUST package it so that it is returned safely, so keept he packaging we send it to you in just in case.
Ive got a snooper s6000. Really good. Reliable and a big screen.
Just done a quick shopping search on the S6000 and the cheapest was £290 its quite a lot compared to the one posted here.
If I could afford it I’d get a top of the range one knowing it will probably perform better than most. I just can’t afford it at the moment.
Hey guys and thanks LR18

the 720 would take the truck nav maps and so would avoid anything that your vehicle size cant go down, as you set the vehicle particulars before your journey.
well it arrived on monday morning at 9.30am he posted on sat and sent an email to say was on its way
so off we went up town in the car to test it all seems ok … out of the two systems on the product i think the I GO is the best one once you can work out how to use it as the instructions are a bit vague realy ie setting up the truck part but i did use it yesterday on a job to ■■■■■■■ and it did its job and kept me out of trouble used it again today on local work Preston / Blackburn / Clithero/ Accrinton and all worked fine so yep well worth the money … once i know how to use its full potential
Hi atomic
yea i dont doupt that it would take the truck nav maps if i knew how to get them and enough about it to reprogam the Tom Tom but sadly i dont although i did tell my mate he could but mine off me for £70 im now having second thoughts lol ( but dont tell the wife ) as i think i will keep it as a spare the Tom Tom is a lot easier to opperate and less complicated
Hi
I’m using TOM TOM GO 7000 TRUCK vith traffic receiver lead wich is integrated into the cigar charger.
Personally far the best and reliable for 44 tonne.
But also there is my snooper s900 truckmate with me just in case and it uses navteq map which is used by royal mail.
Gabby
Yeah I’m quite happy with mine too and I agree on the IGO software.
Only problem I’m having (and its not to do with the sat navs) is that I’ve been told by other drivers at work that a lot of the time we need to go up 7.5t roads. So when I’m using the satnav I’m not getting a route because the only access is 7.5t
hopefully I’ll get on my own routes soon which I know are in nice built up areas and not country lanes that are barely wide enough to drive through like today
(I’ve had 2 extremely bad days on the trot and feeling quite ■■■■)
lol Bad day
Glad I kept my Tom Tom as lighter socket in truck at Spar was not working pmsl so used new sat nav till battery went flat then used tom tom till that whent flat now thinking of buying a battery extender pack off ebay as will fit both tom tom and new one same conection just in case it happens again with another truck .
.
Well even more glad i kept my tom tom now as the new one crashed at 10 am this yesterday just went off and stayed on the same screen when back on would not respond at all …so the wife has emailed them and i will let you knoiw the out come i tried the reset button but no joy at all …
the only thing is now we only have an email address so its gonna take a while to be sorted …
…I was wronge they are super fast with a responce and the wife spoke with them on the Phone and it is being sorted …
Sorry to hear that mate, not had any issues with mine. Will report back if I do though so others know to steer clear of them.
