25-35 mph at most this numpty sat at on the A606 between Nottingham & Melton, it was a clapped out old N reg yellow heap with a Nottingham address on it. I was tempted to ring the DVSA with his reg so they could check it out as in my opinion it’s down right dangerous having so many frustrated car drivers having to sit behind an old van going at the speed of a tractor. I suspect given its speed and age it wasn’t roadworthy.
You should of rang the DVSA and reported him for driving within the law, they’d of sent the SAS out and murdered him and all his family and let the tyres down on his vehicle too.
Wonder if it was an old coal wagon as there must be plenty of them around these days, or were those above 7.5T? As for doing 35, that might depend on the condition of the truck, age of the driver or simply might be the reason it’s still going - not been hammered with high revs. I asked someone a while back how a truck could do a million miles and apparently it’s due to the low rev’ing, so I guess trundling around at 35 mph will keep them down.
Actually just thought of another reason. Can’t imagine the suspension was that brilliant in the really old trucks, so probably more than 35 and it’d be like riding in a Robin Reliant!
Another theory, it was a newbie driver who’d never come across an eaton splitter gearbox and was stuck in 4th. Yeah ok, they probably didn’t have Eaton’s in 7.5T trucks, but some might have done just to make life really hard.
Why else would it be limping along at such a low speed? I always thought it was an offence. I can obviously accept that a fully laden truck going up hill is going to go slow, but a 7.5 tonner on the flat for miles…

So you don’t think it’s dangerous to have a line of cars as far as you can see behind it? I think it’s inconsiderate and will tempt those behind into overtaking when it’s not appropriate.

One company I worked with has a couple of 90s leyland daf 45 7.5 tonners and the drivers like them better than the newer lorry because they’re not limited. When they wanted to get home, by god they shifted.
Can I just ask why some of you guys have to try and belittle some people by mentioning that a 7.5 ton driver was involved ? What does it matter ? We all started somewhere ad I see guys on here who actually still drive smaller vehicles. I have during the 43 years in transport many 44 tonner drivers causing delays.
Don’t forget where you started even if you now have your class one licence.

Speed limits are a MAXIMUM not a minimum as long as the vehicle is within the limits and not over them, nothing you can do about it.
Take your foot off the gas until its safe to pass,if your in that much of a hurry leave a bit earlier next time.

Thoughts?
You best report a few farmers in slow moving tractors, oh and heavy haulage motors, they are real inconsiderate bastds, they should be doing 50 pulling all those 100 tonne loads, then we have the mobile cranes holding us all up for our soooo important timed deliveries…■■■■ reporting them, run the bastds off the road, and be done I say.
Try overtaking next time mate, and chill out ffs, DVSA are ok for informants at the moment, or you could join them if you feel so strongly about it.
