I prefer the Hoggs dealer boots in Brown myself, reasonably priced, look alright, comfy and you get plenty of miles out of a pair.

I’ve got Hoggs Jason boots…you can get them with or without steel caps, I think.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again…they are so comfortable, the first time I put them on it felt like my feet were having ■■■!

Made in Britain too, I believe…the job you save may be your own!

What size do they start ■■ as need a 35/36

What were the Jason steel toe caps are now these

I don’t suppose they are the cheapest you can buy, but I resoled mine to get another winter out of them.

Look ok but all are size 6 + need something a bit smaller ie size 2 or 3

Mole Valley had those CAT boots on sale for circa £90.

Have you a link for those trousers?

Someone else told me that after Yeovil had sold the last pair of size 12s

I don’t have a link fella but Blandford Toola do them, so do Wentin Fatners who have a website

HTH

I’ll have a gander, thanks for that.

I’ve just been perusing the sportsdirect website.
Well worth a look. There’s some cracking deals on there.

I’m on my 2nd pair of JCB boots got the 4x4 lace
Up ones they have stood up well to the abuse I’ve
Give them as mainly in the job I do most of time I’m
Shunting and pulling curtains so spend a lot of time on
My feet and I’ve found them comfy and up to the job I
Think I payed about 45 quid for mine and the only reason
I had to have a new pair was because the soles wore out due to
The amount of time spent on my feet in them . I have had Buckler
Dealer boots and dickies which always stood up well too the job .

For decent boots i paid £70,and they have lasted to do the job.Too good.

What job, Toby? What boots?

Had a look at the Scruffs website, TT. Drezna looks like the name of the hard wearing, wind/waterproof trousers.

That might be the ones.

I got mine from our local army surplus for £12, I’ve still got them and they dont leak and they haven’t cracked yet although that could be down to them being covered in Trafford gold pretty much most of the time!

‘…WTF is wrong with this country…!’

Try for size ‘…that it is wholly subordinate to the European Union…’

:unamused:

When on the drays for Carlsberg we were issued with the standard Arco product. Found them to be very comfy - especially on a job where you virtually wore them out in six months!

Screwfix did me proud.

My favourite boot of all time is a pair of HOGGS safety Insulated boots. Just bought a pair from Countrywide Farmers at £57 & they’re just like wearing a boot with your foot in a sleeping bag. Highly recommended for my money, good boots are well worth paying extra for.

I’m no longer on Tarmac but over the last few years of working with it I’ve always kept my old boots in the cab and changed into them when on site so my new boots never got contaminated with bitumen, it also kept the sticky crap out of the cab apart from the few minutes with the old boots on. Yes I had to change my boots and run the risk of one of our greedy boys getting in front of me but we’re used to their activities, keeping my old boots for the dirtiest work made my last few pairs of good boots last a lot longer.

If you need safety boots, it is your employers legal responsibility to supply them, free of charge. However what they can do, is that if they can supply you a pair of boots for £20 (which seems unlikely), but you decide you want a better quality pair, they can put what they would have paid towards them, leaving you to make up the difference.
If these are just for one site, why not use the pair your employer must supply and change back into you preferred shoes when you leave site?

Chucka boots, cost £15-£20 last me about 12 months on tipper work

Dewalt apprentice boots at screwfix… you can pick them up at about £50 -60 quid.

Dr Martins well worth the money

I always buy DM’s as I know they’ll always fir perfectly. Unfortunately being a size 13 I’m lucky to find boots in that size and sometimes if they come up tight then there won’t be a 14 in the same type.

The last pair of DM’s I bought from ebay, either the quality has slipped or they were fakes, or I’m working harder  as they didn’t seem to last so long. Got another pair now DM’s again but a different type, will see how they fare.

I suppose my job is quite hard on them as I do a lot of site work, so they get wet, caked in crap, then in the heat whilst driving then the cycle restarts.
