Have a pair of Gaffers nice & comfy hardly notice your wearing them bout £30 as they do go down small enough for me ( although still had to put insoles in for them to fit a bit better as they were a size 3 ) not sure what size they go up to mind
The monkeys:
So, let me get this right…
You need safety boots to sit in the cab whilst they unload you.
WTF is wrong with this country!
Yep, including hard hat, safety glasses, hi viz trousers and long sleeved hi viz top.
The only places you are allowed out of vehicle are to undo curtains and get paperwork, and that is on the roadway in the site, not the shed they load you in.

Sounds like Lafarge to me.

Cemex, but I think quite a few other places are similar. Mainly confused by boots, when shoes are ok at all the other places, and you are not allowed within the danger zone of anything moving etc?

I bought some dickies from a builders merchant before and they were crap only lasted a few month I think they were £30 , I have a pair of Goliath ones now wich were £35 IIRC and they are decent , comfy , got a scuff part on the front, the only thing wrong with them Is the Goliath name tag is peeling off 1 of the tounges, apart from that they are like new and I’ve had them not far off 1 year now
If you only have to wear them for one site why not just get a gash pair am for 20 quid out of show zone or somewhere like that and only wear them on that site for a few minutes
“Jump” yelled my Father from the bottom of the stairs as he stood with outstretched arms. A few seconds later as I sobbed in pain he said “first lesson; trust no one, not even family”
A few years later he shared two more nuggets; “if it’s got ■■■■ or wheels it will cost a fortune” also, “buy an expensive bed and but expensive footwear, if you’re not in one you’re in the other!”
Silly old ■■■■, boy did he get a shock when I chose his retirement home!
I’m on my feet a lot of the time and have tried a few boots over the years. I have had Hoggs, Buckler and Dickes dealer style boots and found the Hoggs the best but heaviest. Bucklers were pretty good all round and the Dickies bog standard rund of the mill boots with little life in them. I had CAT lace ups for leisure so bought a pair for work. Laces didn’t last and they were awful if the going got tough or wet. I next wanted a pair of CARHARRT lace ups but getting them over here is hard work and if you get hit with import tax, then you won’t save anything on their cheaper USA price. I then came across SCRUFFS Tungsten boots in a few different places, eventually buying them in Wickes. Lace up, smart, safety toe, good oil resistant sole, comfortable insoles and fully waterproof. They look like hiker type boots. I wear them 5/6 days a week and now favour them over my £120 pair of Regatta walking boots for my weekly 4.5mile walk in all weathers on a Sunday mornin. Price? £40 give or take a few quid.
Yeah, the Scruffs gear does look very well. I had a fantasy mooch & got £400 in my basket without too much effort. What I do sometimes to feed the shopaholic within.
I know what you mean, I can admit to doing the same!! I have one of their soft shell jackets which is smart and pretty good for a fair weather jacket. I have their work trousers too - plenty good enough for driving and light manual work but not all that warm, nor very hard wearing for heavier manual work but the heavier Trade trousers have those silly baggy pockets for chippys and sparkys to put tools in, they are asking to get caught on machinery and so on.
L.Brador work trousers are great but a bit dear. In on dickies combats at the moment and once they’ve been washed a few times there nothing more comfortable short of joggers and I won’t wear them.
I wear Meindl non safety boots all the time and they’re amazing I cat fault them at all. Light, waterproof, high leg, tractive, flexible. Brilliant.
For safety boots I’m having a discussion with Mrs TT at the moment. She thinks I shouldn’t get a pair of Cat waterproof high leg things at 130 quid, I know I’m going to. My old ones were amazing. I tried an almost identical pair if Amblers and ripped the zip out in my living room after having them on for 5 minutes. So Amblers can go ■■■■.

They do trousers like the Trade ones (same material ) but without the baggy pockets
