Sad stobarts fan in clapped out van A 180

I was in the UK for 6 months in 2010 on contract and I worked with a woman who was a Stobart spotter, a really avid one. Looking at her you would never have guessed, she just didn’t fit the bill of what you would expect a spotter to look like.
she drove a Saab Aero Convertible, wore designer clothes and spent her spare time spotting, I just couldn’t bring myself to be rude enough to ask, wtf was she playing at.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

I remember about 10-12 years ago seeing a old fella in a vw transporter liveried in stobart colours down kings Lynn/Norfolk area. Must be the same fella.

Yes, that sounds like him.
Someone mentioned stobarts paying for a paint job on it earlier.
Maybe they asked for a wrap?

Is that the midget with the ■■■■■■ wife, seen on the TV (geddit? ) show about 2 years ago?

that was warwick davis and lilley savage

I was coming out of immingham a few weeks ago, happened to notice a van with stobart stickers in a layby on the opposite side of the carriageway. The old boy in the drivers seat waved so I waved back, I don’t even work for stobarts!
No different to the guys on the bridges taking pictures really,do me no harm and it’s obviously a hobby.

Just for the sake of argument, is licking the widows on the bus a hobby?

Did the coffee bean handshake to a bus load of man united supporters going down the M6 once that sort of stirred a hornets nest.

Coming from North Lincolnshire I’m very familiar with this chap, though I’ve never spoken to him personally. Rumour through the grapevine years ago was that he’s an ex driver himself but somehow received an injury back in the 80s or possibly 90s and couldn’t work again. Whether or not that’s true I have no idea, probably not, but there’s no harm in it and to be honest, it makes a nice change for someone out there to take an interest in the job we do, rather than view us with contempt or hostility as is so often the case.
I for one always gave him a flash of the lights and a blast on the horn.

Some kids where on a walkway on the M60 today with their parents waving at drivers, I gave them a longish toot of the airhorns…the mother said something awful judging by her face as she near left the ground with fright as she was gabbing to someone

i actually take pictures of the wagons i have driven over the years, the reason being that when i am retired its something to look back on for memories as most of the HGVs i have driven will probably be baked bean cans and other recycled parts by then

The old boy that sits in the layby might think that the OPs hobby/pastime is boring and futile. Everybody to their own and live and let live comes to mind. Eddie.

Yes, life is about health and contentment, the bloke may be an x driver sidelined through medical problems and feels happy after his day in the layby, harming nobody, some people need to get more comfortable with life as a whole instead of being ready to rip others up over intricacies.

I’ve done that, and still take random pics of plant, tractors etc. I’ve no passion for them, but my son loves seeing “what daddy went past” as he gets settled for bed. Tonight he loved some pics of a tractor and trailer which lost it’s load of bales.

To be honest I used to wave back, like a few people have said he is doing no harm.
Sometimes though,if I was working locally I would see him five or six times, and after a while I thought, maybe it was just encouraging him so I stopped,i do think it’s an odd thing for a grown man to do.
That’s my opinion,I respect others have there own.
There are plenty out there that take an interest in the job we do,unfortunately it’s vosa and the police etc.

before Chrimbo I was going into Goole and got
waved at so I waved back
its nice to be nice

I hope my life never gets so crap I have to turn to mocking disabled people to feel better than someone else.
