I haven’t seen the old boy that sits in the lay by on the side of the road for a long time.
Whilst I found the idea of sitting in your van waving to truck drivers incredibly sad, I hope he woke up one morning and realized the absolute futility of his pastime rather than fallen upon ill health.
For anyone that has never ventured towards Grimsby/ Immingham this guy and his wife used to sit at the side of the road in a stobarts liveried VW lt van waving and flashing his lights at passing trucks.
And I suppose he would get extra exited if a stobarts came past.
He changed the VW for a transit a while ago.
Anyway, bless him and all nutters and eccentrics everywhere
I was that way on a couple of weeks ago and he was there then.
Ok then.
I must drive with tunnel vision.
Well at least the silly old sod isn’t ill, or worse.
Is that the midget with the ■■■■■■ wife, seen on the TV (geddit? ) show about 2 years ago?

Nah, different folks. Re them two though I couldn’t understand exactly why she was kicking off about not being able to get a double Stobbie quilt cover. Surely a single and a spare pillow case would’ve done the trick?

My mate dug the grave with his JCB; £10 from Toys R Us.

That’s sad news to me.
i knew Robert very well as he lived 2 doors down when i was born.
he was a great character, used to have a 3 wheel mobility car. and think he once worked for ribble bus. as a route trainer.
remember once finding him strapped in his blue car Sat on its side,
just wanted to be pushed on to his wheels!
as for his partner. a very pleasant person.
The old boy that sits in the layby might think that the OPs hobby/pastime is boring and futile. Everybody to their own and live and let live comes to mind. Eddie.

They may well do that old boy.
I don’t suppose that you also sit at the side of the road waving and dribbling do you?

Apparently you can’t vinyl wrap Dinky Toys as it devalues them.
Ah I must have hit a raw nerve there going by the reply. I don’t sit by the roadside but I do take photos of and scratchbuild model trucks, there that’s my hobby whats yours then. Eddie.

Nothing wrong with that. You could’ve said you collect petrol cans and regularly display them at vintage rallies.

Sad, sad person. Hope the “op” will get some kind of life

Ok,
If you remember, part of what I said was to wish them well as in I hoped that the fact I hadn’t seen them for some time didn’t indicate illness.
But you know what? you are right. who an I to think driving a van to park in a lay by off the A 180 and flashing lights at passing “truckers” is in ant way silly.
