Sad or satisfying

Sat in the garden burning 10 yrs worth of anologue tacho discs and wondering wether im glad to see the back of them or sorry to see all those miles go up in smoke !

Was it ‘evidence’ you were burning?

I hope youre using a Euro6 filter on the smoke youre making?

Ten years?..

Sposed to set fire to them…err…I mean hand 'em in after 28 days.

I did, i handed them into myself  and now im having a clearout, quite frightening burning old invoices from 15yrs ago and seeing how little the rates have changed

Only some of it

^^^^^
Used to have to quickly whip them out and dispose of them, too hot to handle… :stuck_out_tongue:

92 ish, I had a (unexpected   ) fire in my office, and it (unfortunately) burned all my and my driver’s cards before a scheduled visit from the then equivalent to VOSA…who’d have thought it eh? :unamused:

Funniest thing was, about 5 yrs later at a local VOSA spotcheck as an employed driver, the guy recognised my name and we had a good laugh about it…still not daft enough to admit any (alleged) guilt then though.

Thats terrible.
For a proper job though, did you put the receipt for the gallon of petrol down as expenses? :grimacing:

No it only took a Fairy liquid bottle full…errr I mean it was an electrical fault that started it.

What didn’t the driver and you play Frisbee with it then ?

My company still has one disc truck but it’s days are numbered :frowning: 06 18t TGM MAN , goes by May
Even more funny was that the fitter told me they had the option to either have a disc or digi tacho from new but as it would have been the only digi tacho truck my boss couldn’t justify the expense for all the other kit needed to do the downloads etc Ironic isn’t it

I know of one guy still running with an analogue truck. Hes just spent a few quid on it too. He says when he gets a roadside tug (NO Dipper!) that hes often waved through nowadays.
Of course, being a completely legal owner-driver, when his discs are looked at by an older Cop it`s always strictly legit anyway…

That’s funny , years ago our yard manager went out in a car with a briefcase .
He came back an hour later and a window was smashed on the car and the case had been “stolen”.
Not strange at all that all the drivers tachographs were in the case , the manager didn’t own a briefcase, never usually drove a car , very rarely left the yard and the local Traffic commission visited 2 hrs later , without warning .

I for one don’t miss analogue tachos. I hate a lot about modern trucks but digi tachos I like.

My question is, why did you still have them?
Wern’t they supposed to be frisbeed out the cab window on a motorway the day after using it?

There’s still a OD on our mob with an analogue tacho in his Magnum. He’s adamant he’ll pack up if he had to have a digi
