Rob K:
In summary then, Facebook is used by stupid people with very low to non-existent intelligence levels and far too much time on their hands.
i was once given a warning over this sort of thing when i was on class 2 multi drop i was given a route round nottingham with about 12 drops all ■■■■■■■ to get into and get done with no breaks planned into it first week i ran out of time and had to be picked up at tibshelf
after a chat with the planner he said he would sort it and sure enough he did he took a drop off and stuck 2 different ones on so same again being picked up at tibshelf
after thee 4th week of this i posted
remind me to have a word with the planners when i get back and get the number of his crack dealer cos he must have been smacked up to his eyeballs when he planned this run
anyway i gets called into office for an arse kicking i took it on the chin but explaind my situation the boss looked at it and told the planner to sort it out and sure enough the run was halfed the week after
my boss could see i was being shafted so kind of understood my frustration as i had tried to get it sorted several times before
but il always remember him trying not to laugh as he read my status out loud to me infront of others
I would expect any organised company to either subscribe to or have software monitoring any comments about it on the internet . Companies that fail to monitor these activies are probably poorly organised or have failed to move with the times . If an organisation pays your salary / wages , have you any right to publicly criticise it ? Supposing the situation was reversed , would you allow your employer to criticise you ( the employee ) on the internet for everyone to see . ? I always assume that organisations such as VOSA , HMRC and the Police read / monitor these forums .
I keep coming back to this topic and have found it very difficult to form an opinion, as it is a very complicated issue for all parties.
I have now decided it comes under my ‘Prisoner’ file.
In that…We are all in a prison that we create for ourselves in every aspect of our lives, it is called our culture.
This culture is harmful to everything in our environment, including ourselves.
Facebook and the like, are sometimes seen as an escape from some of our more laborious prison conditions (i.e. employers) Unfortunately, the guards of these conditions have merely observed this leisure activity and decided that it affords more freedom than they think we are entitled to, so they do their best to lock up this aspect moreso.
It seems that the rights of individuals are constantly eroded by the warders, it won`t be long until there is a full blown riot by the inmates, as the rights and perceived freedoms are eroded constantly.
Personally, I have lost jobs, promotions in days gone by, as I was too vocal about mine or others conditions, or about the way the business was headed…I have retained my integrity though.
Humans are exploited for financial gain in all sectors, that is wrong.
There appears to be no means of escape from our prison, unless you are immensely wealthy, but then the continuance of wealth holds many in the prison system…But if you combine wealth with contentment and freedom of mind, escape is viable
If my boss pulled me up about something I put on my facebook, I would be grilling him as to why he was looking me up. More so, if I had been there a while.
But in my last driving job, everyone was friendly. Even the company owners would have a laugh and a giggle with you, and generally take the ■■■■ out of each other.

That’s just the problem though, you put something on fb, then you go at your boss for ‘looking you up’, but, it may be a case that someone who you work with has told your boss what you have put if it anything derogatory about him or his company, and he checked it out for himself before speeking to you, that way, he has got the evidence in front of him
Then people who post bad stuff on facebook should use the filters or groups settings so colleagues cannot see the posts.

Or, even better - people should think before they post in public

trust me, it would still get around to the boss if you slagged him or the company off
i know this for a fact
Some members still seem to be of the opinion that t’interweb is a virtual brew room where anything posted is solely for the consumption of fellow members.
IT AIN’T!!!
We would all do well to remember that, as soon as you click the “submit” button, your comments are available for potentially the whole world to see. This is why it’s called, “the World-Wide Web”. If there are persons whom you would rather didn’t read your post, then for goodness sake, DON’T POST IT.
And as for the subject of slagging off your employer, wait until you a) have left his employment, or preferably b) retired!
So basically what we’ve learned here is that nobody has ever been sacked because of Facebook. They’ve been sacked for stupidity!
In the Darwinian scheme of things I think that’s a fair outcome tbh.

sounds about right
It’s a good job you work for your self rob
Not because your stupid though lol
this is very true
it’s easier just telling the boss too his face what you think of him coz to do it on facebook/email/text or phone just makes ya look an ■■■
Should have used G+
my brother rents houses out he has a fake fb profile set up and he adds he tenants on this profile he never spies on them at all but there have been times when they have done a midnight flit owing him money he uses the fake profile to track m down and get the cash back
so its also a great tool as well as used by tools
I’ve just removed my profile from Facebook.
My mrs is on there and begged me to go on there, she thinks it’s the best thing in the world, has to post absolutely everything on there. Her friends know more about what we’re doing than I do. I’m sick of the whole thing, it’s not for me. I’ll text or call one of my friends if I want to get in touch with them.
