Well all I can say is good luck to everyone at S Walker transport. Drivers and management alike. I’d say judging from the photos that this seems to be a company that cares about its drivers as all the units seem to be fitted with air-con pods which is not something you see much in this day and age of cutting costs at every opportunity. Personally I’ve been class 1 since 2005 and have never had anything more than factory spec.

Used to see them running into Aylesford Newsprint IIRC for quite a few years,so whats the full story? warts and all please!BTW not picking holes or slagging off, just maybe something we can all learn from
There’s been a lot of upheaval in the sector supplying paper to the dead tree media and an obvious knock-on to those supplying them. Of course if only the bosses had as crappy cars as the workers I’m sure it could all be take in their stride.
I’m never sure in what parallel universe people think the boss isn’t likely to have a better car than the workers. Another source of surprise seems to be if a company hits the buffers those involved set-up another company rather than shuffle off an starve to death somewhere.
Very nice to read of a success story, especially on this turgid forum.
However, I just hope that the drivers and the owners are the ones making the most money out of this and not the greedy bankers!!!

In the context of the post, very nice trucks and obviously the drivers are very happy with them, how and why they’ve managed to buy them doesn’t concern me but as I say very nice trucks indeed and I think that was what the OP wanted to show.
No wonder I keep myself to myself on the road when it seems all some people want to do is slate other people with what I consider jealous remarks.
Good luck to anyone who can survive in this industry.
I’m not at all slating the company or anything and I wish them luck but what is it like working for them?
I went for a interview with them about a year ago, would of been offered the job but I wasn’t 21 so the insurance didn’t want to know me but the place didn’t seem very convincing ? And some of the things I heard from
Other drivers about them didn’t give a good name
It’s been around for a while that they had problems, good to see it seems to be sorted. Best of luck to them for the future.

Sure it does if the company was being run into the ground following the departure of Mrs Walker?
Something a few drivers claimed when they left?
Tempted into going back by a v8 scanny?
There all Scrapia’s, I would have chosen anything over them.

Top tip for you since you’re a young lad, dont listen too much to other drivers. In any company you’ll have drivers who slag the company off endlessly, a good thing to ask them when they do is ‘how long have you worked here?’, if its weeks dont listen, if its years and years… dont listen. Some of the biggest moaners have been at companies years and years. Moaning is a way of life for many, they dont know how to start a conversation without it.
My tip is do your own thing. Ask the right questions at the interview, money work etc, and make up your own mind. What you want is different to the next man. No one can make the right decision for you
Look give them a chance. Christ almighty you depressing bunch.

We had a guy who worked 33 years at our place, If you listened to him its an awful place to work, so why do 33 years?
As Luke said, make your own mind and opinions up, us drivers like a good moan and love to knock folk and companies
Is that the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse cresting the horizon I see…
What’s the world coming to when Walkers spend money on new kit.
V’s as well, jeez the drivers won’t know what’s hit them.

How come a company can revive itself with a £1m worth of new trucks? Obviously on lease.I’m surprised that any leasing/finance company would touch those behind the name, given that they were in trouble before. Admittedly they do look nice, and good luck to them, but they have been in trouble once…
And they say there’s no money in transport.
Ken.
That’s what I would like to know, if the work did not pay before how can a batch of new lease trucks make it pay now?
I mean have they set up doing the same thing again?
someone posted that they have worked hard, did they not work hard before?
Maybe you should get down there with your calculator and give them some financial advice. No doubt they’ll appreciate your expertise

Whats wrong with a few questions?
as for financial advise don’t think I will bother, though I do have expertise in some areas lease trucks is not one of them
Saw S Coopers of Chester way with a new taut today as well, things must be on the up!
They have turned the firm round not gone for the easy way of a pre pack liquidation. From what my old firm were told it was the bosses marrage break up that caused the problems as him and the wife ran the firm together. Many good firms have gone to the wall through no fault of the own.
So what if they lease the trucks loads of firms do. It depends what works for you but as usual the barrack room lawyers of ■■■■■■■ know best.
