I bet they don’t sit baking in their cabs all day without aircon.

Got a air con pod been a life saver Over the best few days,
Ask your boss to fit one for you

I bought a waeco, lasted a year (used for 3 months in spain), after that was pretty much a 24v fan. after that, just leave it running as much as I need to, turn it off after midnight usually.

I use mine quite alot whennimwas in Europe now iv changed jobs and new truck I did request a air con pod and was surprised to see one

Try sleeping in the cab during the day in mid summer, its like sleeping in a greenhouse hence the engine is left running. I’d rather cost the company £11 than die or be over tired the next shift due to lack of comfortable sleep.
The technology is there for a reason so use it.

If the gaffer doesn’t want to pay for the fuel then he’s more than welcome to pay for an air conditioned room somewhere.

This ^^^
I’ll be in europe most of july and august, in a black truck, running at night and attempting to sleep In the day, if I need to run the truck to sleep, I will.

Waeco have a good reputation but for some reason their pods don’t seem up to much, we had a batch and they gave problems so we went back to Viesa and Bycool both of which are reliable if looked after.

A typical HGV will use just under 2 litres of fuel per hour on tickover.
So running it all night would be cheaper than a hotel, The driver will need less rest stops when he is driving and therefore he will be more productive.
So it’s a cost saving in real terms boss.

Putting arguments like that to some could backfire. You may end up with a memo stating that all vehicles must run air conditioning 24 hours per day 7 days a week to save costs.
