I heard that there are to be new height limits introduced although it will affect trailers built from a certain date ie in use now. Older trailers will not be affected
I heard something similar recently, but canāt remember where from. It was something about the EU enforcing a 4m limit across the whole EU.

The lunatics are in charge of the asylum. Another stupid idea from Brussels.
The double deck parcel and pallet companies are going to love that
Has anyone built one of the new length trailers but done it as a double deck pallet network spec trailer ? Bet that would make your arse nip pulling one of them round in windy conditions.

Not sure whoās built it but seen on on Palletways being pulled by Jack Richards.
Seen a few or possibly the same Royal Mail decker, Elddis and Sca pulling curtain extra long deckers, plus arenāt a lot of those walking floor trailers extra long and tall, was just a matter of time Europe loves to look like its doing something

We send 3 deckers which are all between 4.85m and 4.93m to Ireland every night. 2 Dublin and 1 Belfast. Might bugger us up a bit then.
But loads of companies are going to be in the same position. McBurney, Royal Mail, Marks & Spencer, Argos to name just some, send Deckers over.

I take a 4.85 Decker to cairnryan every day. Still using hired trailers but the brand spanking new ones are 4.93. We havenāt even received the full order yet. Ā£3.5 million spent on them and they canāt load them due to the design. I believe they are currently being used as ornaments taking up valuable space in the depot
For the UK the 4m height limit was hidden in an amendment that āharmonisedā C&U wording across EU.
It may have been an oversight, as the document stipulated max lengths and heights for new build trailers.
There was a lot of lobbying by the UK, and dispensation on heights was given toā¦double deck trailers!!
It was pointed out how stupid the legislation would be, and how many ways you could get around this rule (5 came to my mind).
The final agreement last November I think, was that the number of special type trailers that could be certified was increased, trailers exceeding 4m now being special type.
This was the last I heard, but am now out of the loop on EU shenanigans!
The Irish issue is another issue - as always!
Spoke to the TM earlier on about the impending new Irish height law. She has heard nothing about it so I advised her to have a wee look on the internet for some info. Letās just say they are a little bit concerned about it now. Only 1 week to figure something out.
